hmmm...hobbies. What can I tell you about them? I have many, ranging from the mundane to some slightly more interesting ones. I guess I could also include my interests, as they lie along with my hobbies. Indeed, many of them are sort of hobbies in and of themselves. I guess my foremost hobby that I've had the longest is collecting comics. Go ahead and laugh if you will, but some of them are worth over $100. As my funds are somewhat limited, I can not purchase by myself the more expensive books. My father, on the other hand, has an almost complete run of the Amazing Spider-Man, while I have an X-Men collection lacking just 60 books to be complete. The earliest issue I have is either Batman #67 or Uncanny #13. I'm not quite sure which is the oldest. Anyway, yuck it up if you will, but the total of the X-Men books I have is over $4,000 dollars worth. Not too bad for an 18 year old kid. |

Another hobby of mine is raising plants. I am basically the caretaker of all the plants around my home that are not planted in the ground, for without me, they'd soon wither and die because no one else really takes the time to look after them. I have several different kinds, ranging from spider plants to a pencil tree cactus. My hobby yearly was trying to take a poinsetta and make it live from one December to the next. So far I have failed, though this past year was the cloest I have come. It would still be alive had not something fallen on it when I was transporting it to my college in my car when I went over a speed bump. I am perhaps a bit to fanatical over my plants, but I consider them to be my babies. To harm them is to harm me. Alas, most of the harm that comes to them comes through sheer bad luck. But that doesn't make me feel any better when one I've had for a while dies. Of course, for anyone who deliberatle harms a plant in my presence, there can be a special penalty involved, but it would have to be thought up on the fly as I am not in a very malicious mood at the moment. ;) I guess the hobby that has occupied most of my time for a while now is the Internet. Treu, while in itself it is not a hobby, talking to people and getting to know them is. I spend much of my free time on IRC (internet Relay Chat), which is where I met the love of my life. His picture can be seen on my boyfriend link. I am a member of several different lists on the Net, as well as a member of several different programs. If you are on WBS, my handle on there is NateGrey19, and on IRC I am known as NateGrey on Efnet and RDF on Undernet. Perhaps my greatest interest in high school was drama. Heh. I know what that puts into your mind: A drama queen. Sorry, bad pun. Ahem. I was actively involved in drama through my junior high and high school years, appearing in such plays as Annie Get Your Gun, Bye Bye Birdie, the Sound of Music, and Godspell. I have had a hand in the construction of the sets to these plays as well as an active role in the plays themselves. When I get access to a scanner, I'll try to get some pics up of myself in Godspell. I have also been involved in a number of one act plays, the most interesting of which was The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. The saddest play I have ever had a part in was I Never Saw ANother Butterfly, which was about a young Jewish girl and her struggle to survive the Holocaust during World War 2 in the concentration camp of Therezenstadt. Forgive me for my shoddy spelling. I am not quite sure how it is spelled, but it makes me sad to dwell on such a thing. So on to another. Hm..Im really running out of things to talk about. I guess the last thing that I can think of to put on my hobbies page is what type of sports and activities I like. I was never really into any sports during high school except for soccer. I have never been a big fan of watching sports, even though I was subjected to travelling many miles to Auburn College during my youth to watch foot ball games when my father boutgh season tickets. On occasion I will watch them, (sports, I mean) but I have to be in the mood to do so. Playing soccer in high school is what helped me get my weight down from the 240 pounds I used to be to the 165 pounds that I am now. You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at me now, but I used to be quite a porker. And that lead to my having very low self esteem, bouts of which I still wrestle with from time to time today. But that's a topic fo the section about me, which you can view if you have not already done so. I also have been working out for the past 3 years off and on, and can definately tell a difference in my body from having done so. I go as much as I can, in addition to doing other things such as jogging and running. And that's about all there is to tell that I can think of at the moment about hobbies and interests. If I think of any other things to post, check back from time to time to see if anything's different. :P |
