A BOYS STORY by Martin King, published by Mainstream Publishing in 2000. A novel on 208 pages. At the back it says: "As the 1960s drew to a close, parents across Britain raised a curious eyebrow as their long-haired children suddenly returned home with shaven heads, Levis jeans and vicious-looking army boots, pleading for three quid to buy a Harrington jacket from the market. The skinhead was born and a new youth culture took Britain by storm. Boys & girls embraced working-class fashion & music - the West Indian reggae sounds of Blue Beat and the strong sense of identity these fostered. For a couple of summers the media portrayed England as a country under siege, when the young skins paraded at seaside resorts on bank holidays and later on the terraces at nearly every football ground across the land. Martin King captures the essence & spirit of those early skinhead years in his autobiographical account A BOYS STORY. With his passion for Chelsea FC and their reputation as THE skinhead club, King artfully and humorously describes the heady mix of pleasures which were all part of life as a teenager growing up in working-class south London during the late 60s". I enjoyed reading this book very much! Rating: 4.

RATZ ARE NICE - A NOVEL by Lawrence Ytzhak Braithwaite. Published by Alyson Books, New York in 2000. 190 pages.

RED LONDON - MOB VIOLENCE, MOB VENGEANCE, MOB RULE! By Stewart Home, AK press 1994. Havent read this book yet, but here is what it says on the back: "Fellatio Jones and his crew shoot, shag, stab, bludgeon and plunder their way from the mean streets of Mile End to aristocratic Belgravia. The Skinhead Squad are a new breed of malcontent. Their brand of mayhem has an ideological twist and the gang targets its violence to deadly effect. As class anger explodes from the rotting heart of the inner city, corpse is piled upon corpse and the roads run red with blood. RED LONDON is an authoritative novel of sex, violence and pathological sadism that wells over into mania the plot races towars its cataclysmic conclusion. Read this book and discover why the wealthy want it banned. Viking berserker rage!".

THE BOOKS BY RICHARD ALLEN from "Skinhead" (1970) and onwards. These books, all in all I think they are 18 to the number, are THE kiosk-litterature for skinheads. Very simple stories told in the most simple way. Even if the later books are not about skinheads, you can follow the changes within british youth-culture during the 70s through these books. It all starts with the fucked-up skinhead Joe Hawkins though. Above is a collection of my original books, but all of them have later been re-issued in bigger volumes during the 1990s to great success!

SKINHEAD by JAY BENNETT, published by Fawcett Juniper 1991. I havent read this piece of kiosk-litterature, and i dont know if i ever will. Dont really know why i own it! This is what it says on the front page: "A mysterious call summons Jonathan to Seattle -and pits him against a murderous group os Nazi Skinheads". Gääääääsp!

SATURDAYS HEROES by Joe Mitchell, Low Life, probably around 2000. At the back it says: "Its all right for the mugs in their executive boxes and expensive seats to moan about football hooliganism. Teyve never had to defend their end against rival fans or fought their way back to the train station after an away game. But Paul West and his skinhead crew dont care what others think of them anyway. They live in a violent world that sees them do battle with casual gangs, other skinheads and rival supporters. A world that is slowly torn apart by aggro, a certain girl and betrayal". I find it very tiring that skinheads and violence are always put together, but this is anyhow a quite sweet story about the world of these young men. I got my copy from my then boyfriend Tim who wrote a dedication with love in it too! Rating: 4.

ENGLAND BELONGS TO ME by Steve Goodman. ST publishing, unknown year. This is a very nice novel about a young lonely lads hunt for recognition, meaning, and love. I really like this story about the caracter Derek Peterson. At the back it says "this is not the sort of book you want to buy your old granny". Rating: 5!

AMERICAN SKIN by Don De Grazia, Vintage 1999. A very nice novel about another lost young man and his search for a good life. The most different thing about this book, is, as it says in the title, that it for once is about an american! Some gay vibes might be found in the story. I got my copy as a gift from my dear friend Phillip, a german now living in Sweden. Thank you mate! Rating: 4.
