MASS OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE


The following are propers for a (Western Rite) Liturgy to be celebrated in connection with direct spiritual combat against the great enemies of God, humanity, and all creation, Satan and its demons. It was developed by the Rev. Trimelda C. McDaniels, Pastor of Christ Charismatic Liturgical Church, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

INTROIT:

Arise O God and let Your enemies be scattered. Let those who hate You flee from before Your Face! As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the sight and the Presence of Our God.

Response: GLORY BE TO THE FATHER AND TO THE SON AND TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, AS IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING, IS NOW, AND EVER SHALL BE. AMEN

COLLECTS:

God of Heaven, God of earth, God of angels, God of the archangels, God of Patriarchs, God of Matriarchs, God of Prophets and Prophetesses, God of the Apostles, God of Martyrs, God of the Confessors, God of the virgins, You who have the power to give life after death and rest after work, because there is no other God besides You, and there never will be any other except You, the Creator of all things visible and invisible, whose kingdom is without end: We humbly entreat Your glorious Majesty that you deign to free us with Your power and keep us safe from all domination, chains, snares and perversity of evil and infernal spirits. Through Christ Our Lord.

Almighty, Ever-Living and Merciful God, You break the power of Evil and make all things new in Your Son Jesus Christ, the Ruler of the Universe. May all in Heaven and earth acclaim Your Glory and never cease to praise you. As there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, free us from all abomination of condemnation that rises up against us from the world, the flesh and the devil. Let every weapon formed against us not prosper and every tongue that strives against Your will be condemned, for the blessings of the just shall endure forever, but the wicked shall perish in the Light of Your Son's soon return. Let that Light now shine in our hearts and in every area of our lives through the Holy Spirit. Bring Your mighty anointing to bear to break all yokes and bondage, wherever they may be found, that we might be set free to serve you in liberty, prosperity, and wholeness of peace. We ask this in the Name of that same Jesus Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever.

Revelation 12:1-11

HALLELUIA VERSE:

Christ became a curse for us that we might know the blessings of Abraham.

Gospel: Matthew 12: 25-30

AFTER THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS:

O Lord our God, King of the Aeons, Almighty Pantocrator, Who creates and transforms all things by merely willing it, You who changed the 7-fold furnace and the flame in Babylon into dew and kept Your 3 children safe, Physician and Healer of our souls and bodies, Security of all who hope in Thee, we beseech and we beg:

BANISH+ DRIVE OFF+ and TAKE AWAY+ every diabolical action, every satanic attack and assault (sprinkle holy water), every evil curiousity and harm (sprinkle holy water), and the spell of the evil eye caused by maleovent and evil people from thy servant(s), N. (and N.) and from their property, goods, belongings, animals, businesses and lands.

And if this has occurred because of beauty, (sprinkle holy water) pride, ( holy water) or prosperity (holy water) or jealousy (holy water) or envy (holy water) or the evil eye (holy water) , do Thou, O Master and Lover of Humanity, stretch forth Thine hand and Thy powerful and sublime arm and in Thy watchful care look upon this Thy creature (these Thy creatures) N. (and N.) and visit her with a peaceful angel, a mighty guardian of body and soul, who will rebuke+ and drive off from them+ every evil design, every sorcery, and the spell of the evil eye of corrupting and evil people, so that your servant(s), defended by Thee, may sing with thanksgiving:

Response: THE LORD IS MY HELPER AND I SHALL NOT BE FRIGHTENED. WHAT SHALL MAN DO TO ME? I SHALL FEAR NO EVIL FOR THOU ART WITH ME, FOR THOU ART MY GOD, MY STRENGTH, A MIGHTY COUNSELOR, PRINCE OF PEACE, AND FATHER OF THE AEON TO COME.

Yes, O Lord our God, spare + Thy creature(s) and save + Thy servant(s) from all harm and influence caused by the spell of the evil eye. Protect them from + all evil through the intercessions of our Most Blessed and Glorious Lady Theotokos and the Ever Virgin Mary, our father Protector, Saint Joseph the Just Man, the luminous Archangels, (St N.), and all Thy saints.

Response: AMEN.

OFFERTORY VERSE: A banquet have you prepared for me in the presence of mine enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows. Halleluia

SECRET: Father, You have called upon your church in Christ to prevail against the Gates of Hell, and have asked us to put on the whole armor of God that we might be found standing in the evil day: grant that Divine Help which of old put to flight both the power and the presence of the Enemy. By these gifts which are to become the Memorial of the Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross, grant freedom+, deliverance+ and victory+ to Your Holy Bride, the Church, in the face of Her foes. Heal our wounds of division, strife and fear. Bring us into the sweet unity of Your Will and let us begin prosper and be in good health and healing, even as our souls prosper in the power of this Holy Eucharist. We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord who lives and reigns with You, and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever.

THE PREFACE

Father, All-Powerful and Ever-living God, it is indeed right always and everywhere to give You thanks and praise. In the presence of our enemies You bid us partake at Your banquet. You anoint our heads with oil, our cup overflows, and even now, though we walk in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we fear no evil, for You are by our side with Your Rod and Your Staff which give us comfort.

Your Rod is the Blessed Cross that struck the Rock of Salvation, Jesus Christ, to bring forth the waters of salvation. Your Staff is the Bread of Life, the very Body of Christ, which feeds us with Eternal Life. We therefore proclaim that no weapon can overcome this our faith, and that no power can snatch us out of Your Hand. We are Your own forever through Jesus Christ Your Son in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is the victory that was gained for us on the Cross, this is our faith that overcomes the world.

And so, with the entire choir of saints, who raise their shouts of joy along with the perpetual song of the holy virtues, dominations, rulers, powers, principalities, thrones, cherubim and seraphim, we blend our voices with theirs as we sing:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY. . .

COMMUNION VERSE: And they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. For they loved not their lives unto death.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER:

O Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, by that flame of Love which burns in You at that solemn moment when You give everything to us in this most Blessed Sacrament, free us evermore from the insidiousness of Satan. Keep us safe in Your might from all the power, chains and deception of the enemy. Give us victory and power over the devil, the flesh and the world. May Your Kingdom advance more and more each day through the prayers of Your church in heaven and through the prayerful actions of Your church on earth. We ask this in Your Name, Lord Jesus, You who live and reign, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever.

Response: AMEN.

FINAL BLESSING:

From the snares of the Devil and the power of our own sinfulness:

Response: DELIVER US LORD.

That Your church might be free now to serve You in power and unity:

Response: GRANT IT, O LORD.

That You would deign to confound the enemies of Holy Mother Church:

Response: HEAR US, O LORD.

May the blessing of Almighty God, the Father, the Son + and the Holy Spirit, be upon us and remain with us forever.

Response: AMEN.

The priest(s) may then remove their chasubles and, vested in alb and stole - usually the purple stole which signifies the warrior calling of the priesthood - they then recite the Exorcism of Pope Leo XIII for places, which is found here.
