The Manti Utah Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Arguably the most beautiful of the pioneer temples, the Manti temple is a near twin to the Logan Temple, on the outside only the upper towers are different. Also, the open center spiral staircases are a miracle of 19th Century engineering and are extremely rare, and beautiful. The yearly Manti Pagent, which reinacts scenes from the Book of Mormon and Church History, takes place on the south hill of the temple. The Manti Temple is the only temple with murals surviving from the pioneer period. The temple is built of oolite sandstone quaried from the hill on which the temple stands.
The temple was announced in June 1875.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 25 April 1877.
The cornerstone was laid in April 1877.
The temple was dedicated on the 17th and 21-23 May 1888.
The temple was remodeled and rededicated on 14-16 June 1985.
There are 8 Sealing rooms in the 86,809 square foot temple.
The Endowment Ceremony is presented live in the traditional 4 Ordinance rooms.
The twin towers are 179 feet tall.
The Manti Temple serves stakes in central Utah.
