The Medford Oregon Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Building a temple is a great opportunity to do missionarry work, and the Medford Temple is an excellent example of this. The general contractor, job superintendant and construction missionaries started each work day with a prayer. During the construction of the Celestial Room, one visiting sister began to sing and brought tears to the eyes of some of the workers in the room. Another sister who lived close to the temple brought fresh, home baked cinnamon rolls to the workers on several occasions. Corey Vitas, the general contractor said that each of the 225 people working on the temple felt the spirit at least once during the construction project.

The temple was announced on 17 March 1999.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 20 May 1999.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 16 April 2000.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,700 square foot temple.
The spire is about 78 feet tall.
The Medford Temple serves nine stakes in Oregon and Northern California.
