The Preston England Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The Preston area is full of Church history. Many early British converts to the Church came from this area and many of the early leaders of the Church served their missions here. The design is vaguely similar to the London Temple. Both are "chapel" style temples with faceted spires. Preston, however, is somewhat larger.

The temple was announced on 19 October 1992.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 12 June 1994.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 7-10 June 1998.
There are 4 Sealing rooms and 4 Ordinance rooms in the 69,778 square foot temple.
The spire is 155 feet tall.
The Preston Temple serves stakes in parts of northern England, northern Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
