The Tampico Mexico Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Despite their remote location and the relatively small number of members in the area, the residents of Tampico have been expecting a temple in their city for over 20 years. At that time the Church was considering selling the land on which the temple now stands. The local Stake President urged the Church to keep the land, and told local members that someday a temple would be built there.

The temple was announced on 20 July 1998.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 28 November 1998.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 20 May 2000.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,850 square foot temple.
The spire is about 78 feet tall.
The Tampico Temple serves stakes in central Mexico.
