1974 National League M.V.P.

A firstbaseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, Garvey was a perennial all-star. His first all-star start was in 1974 when he was voted in as a write-in candidate and won the game's M.V.P. award. Garvey was a ten-time all-star (1974-'81, '84, '85). Garvey also won the National League M.V.P. in 1974 and led the Dodgers to the pennant. Garvey was a key component of the Dodger pennant winners in 1977 and 1978 and their World Series triumph in 1981. Later with the San Diego Padres, Garvey led them to their first National League title in 1984. Garvey also won teh All-Star Game M.V.P. Award in 1978 and was the N.L.C.S. M.V.P. in 1978 and '84. He won four straight Gold Gloves (1974-'77) and had his number 6 retired by the Padres.
