The New York Giants running back was an All-Pro in 1970 and 1972. Both seasons he totaled over 1,000 yards rushing, the first time a New York Giant rushed for over 1,000 yards. In 1972, Johnson led the N.F.C. with 14 touchdowns. In 1969, he was drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Browns out of Michigan after finishing sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting. After six seasons with the Giants, Johnson spent 1976 with the Dallas Cowboys. His brother Alex, played major league baseball.
