Three-Time Indianapolis 500 Winner
"Lone Star J.R." won the Indianapolis 500 in 1974, '75 and '80. He was the Indy car champion in 1980, and recorded a total of 27 Indy car wins. In 1963 he won a Daytona 100 mile qualifying race, his only win in 33 career N.A.S.C.A.R. starts. Rutherford was elected to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1996.
