GEOFFREY WIGDOR |
all Geoffrey, all 4U
...NOW...
...THEN...
How to say his name: Like "Jeff" only it's the British virsion
Playing such a dramatic role in "R" rated movie was very challenging for
Geoff. "Sleepers was a big challenge. In real live, I have never done anything
ever close to what I had to act out. I was helped by a lot of people on the set
and tha's what made it easier. "Unfortunately, while Sllepers stars four boys who were
in junior high when it was filmed, you have to be 17 to see it, as it has some violent scenes.
However, Geoff gave 16 a pretty good idea of what it was like to work with the Brads. "I admire Brad Pitt.
I asked him one day, ' How does it feel having millions of girls just loving you compleetely ? And he said ,
' You've got to keep your head on straight. I'm a one girl man. I keep straight forward and I don't let it get to my head.'
"If I ever get that popular which I hope. "Geoff says, I want to be like him, Because he's a great guy. He was
just like one of us, and I think that's great."
Birthday: January 23, 1982 - he's 16.
It's not often you hear a teenage guy gush endless affirmations about his parents, but for dreamyeyed Geoff Wifdor, he wouldn't have it any other way.
"I have a very close relationship with my parents,"
"They're my best friends..."
That's not to say thet 16-years old doesn't have plenty of other pals his age to call "Best Friends."
What it does say is that Geoff never forgats how fortunate he is to have the loving family he does, especially since the character he plays on television does not.
Eli Trager, Geoff's character on the ABC Soap, is a fatherless and recently motherless teenager infected with the AIDS virus. Unfortunately, it's not a preyyt picture. Yet this proactor doesn't let it get him DOWN.
When Geoffrey heads home after a day's work, he makes sure to leave all the emotional baggage of his character at the set and enjoys being able to sit down to a delightful dinner with his folks, Fred & Karen, in their NEW YORK CITY home.
"I have dinner with them all the time,
They're both home relatively early on the weeknights, so... you know, we're always together from like 6 p.m on."
Together from 6 p.m on every weeknight, Geoff ?????
"Sometimes I go into my room and isolate myself from them ' cause I just can't stand them,,,,"
"BUT,,,,NO,,, I love them very much.You know,,,what a normal KID would do."
Geoff may be a serious actor, but he's a regular Joe (or Geoff) when it comes to school.
"I try to stay as normal as I can, " Geoff explains..
"I go to a normal school where acting is not a top priarity."
And as far as Geoffrey hogging the spotlight in the class production of Our Town, don't bet on it.
"I try to stay away from that, " Geoffrey confesses.
"I don't like school plays. I don't know why, but I've never done one in my whole entire life."
So what does Geoffrey love about school ???
"Lunch is pretty good,"
The dark blond babe jokes...
After starring in a heavy-duty downer like Sleepers, you might think Geoffrey would be looking for a nice romantic comedy for his nest project. WRONG !!!
Geoffrey's currently strutting his dramatic stuff as Eli Trager, a 15 years-old orphan with HIV, on the ABC daytime drama One Life To Live.
"He's a very devilish kid, " Geoffrey says.
"He does anything in order to get what he wants,"
On top of that seriously glum role, Geoff plays _ gulp _ a young mental hospital patient in the upcoming movie In Dreams.
"All these dark characters, I don't know what it is, " Geoffrey shrungs.
"people probably see me in Sleepers and see that I can play these kinds of roles. But I love Challenging roles like these."...
As an only child, the 5-foot-4- inch babe admits he sometimes gets an itch for a youngest sib since being an only child can get a little lonely.
"I have never really had a chance to feel what it's like to have a sibling, so I wouldn't know it it's better.
Says Geoffrey...
"but if I actually had a brother around my age who I could go out with, it wouldn't just be having him as sibling and that's it."
Fortunately, Geoff's never had a lot of time to get bummed over his solo son status. He started his acting career at the age 6 with loads of commercials, and it was in 1996's Sleepers that the blue eyed cutie got his big break in the role of young John. Hot only was it a chance to show off his incredible acting skills, but Geoffrey also got all the brothers he could ever want in co-stars Brad Renfro, Joe Perrino and Jonathan Tucker.
"All the time, every single night and every single day, we couldn't stop laughing," Geoffrey admits...
"It was unbelievable. Every day there was a new experience, whether it was plaing sports, or hanging out or playing pool at night, anything.
They were all wonderful."
Even though Geoff's the only one who lives in New Yourk City, he makes a point to stay in touch with his old pals.
"We talk on the phone and see each other once in a while," Geoffrey says.
"We're just normal friends."...
comments: Fifteen year old Geoffrey Wigdor displayed a great deal of natural talent in his performance in last year's Sleepers. No small feat considering the quality of the other actors he was cast with and the intensity of the roles. Geoff made his film debut in My Summer Story, and has been a regular on the soap "Loving". But it's his work in Sleepers that is getting this talented young hunk noticed. We'll be looking for a lot more from Geoff now that he's wet his feet in a big way in a major motion picture.
