BATTLE OF THE BULGE ~ WWII
Uncle Loren, I always wished I could have known you.
Gone too soon, before my birth.
But I always knew, without a doubt, you were someone really special.
My earliest childhood memories - putting flowers
on your grave
and seeing the little USA flag blow in the wind.
I was taught that you died, like other men and women, for our freedom.
And that you and the others would not be forgotten.
Life did not permit us to know one another as human beings.
But I am doing my best to make sure
children are
taught the sacrifices made by you and countless soldiers
and the sacrifices of their families.
Without you in our family,
sharing life
there remains an empty place in our souls.
You are in my heart....
Love you Uncle Loren.
