YEAH YEAH YEAH! When asked "you're playing with three pretty girls but what's the whole idea behind this band?", Eric couldn't help saying "I'm playing in a band with three pretty girls and you're asking me what the idea is?!" Makes sense now doesn't it? Instrumental rock'n'roll is the word here... It all started when Maaike Visschedijk, Eric's fiancée and sister of the Napoleons' bassplayer Joke, wanted to improve her 'campfire' guitar skills and play some rock'n'roll too. In a band, preferably. Asking Joke and Eric was pretty obvious, and Antwerpen-based ex-De Bossen drummer Katrien DB joined as well. Now the story behind the name is as follows; Eric and Maaike had selfmade 'Miffy'-bunny paintings on their armycoats, and when they made both Joke and Katrien one of those too, the name 'The Bunny Club' was coined by Maaike's and Joke's mother, Madeleine. The music is best described with "The Ventures meet Link Wray in a late night drinking contest - and it's a draw". The guitars they use are homemade and covered with fake fur! There is no demo available yet, and the Bunny Club is a band that hibernates most of the year, but they have found the time to record a cool version of the song 'Black September' for the Dead Moon tribute CD "Songs From The Cole Mind", on Last Chance Records (Portland, Oregon USA) - and they were mentioned in more than one review for doing a very good job there. Besides, it's one of Toody's favourites! Now that's a flying start for any band! |
