Review:The Professional
is a fresh and unique film that blends French/European and American
filmaking. The cast is exceptional. Jean Reno, Danny Aiello (Jacob's
Ladder), Natalie Portman, and Gary Oldman (JFK,
Immortal Beloved) are all in top
form here. Reno plays the mysterious lead character (Leon) who when
not working as a hitman, spends most of his days alone inside his apartment
tending to his one companion...a potted plant. Oldman's portral of the
corrupt pill-popping DEA officer is phenomenal. The soundtrack has a
powerful and unique sound which aids in the mood of this movie. -Review
