MORE
SEVEN STILLS
1)
"Ernest Hemingway once wrote, 'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for'.
I agree with the second part" ": Wav
2) David:
"When a person is insane, as you clearly are, do you know that
you're insane? Maybe you're just sitting around, reading Guns &
Ammo, masturbating, in your own feces...do you just stop and go, 'WOW!
It is amazing how fucking crazy I really am'.": Wav
Memorable
quotes:
1)John
Doe: We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we
tolerate it. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trival. We tolerate it morning,
noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I'm setting the example. And what I've done
is going to be puzzled over, and studied, and followed... forever.
2)William
Somerset: I just don't think I can continue to live in a place that embraces
and nurtures apathy as if it was virtue. David Mills:
You're no different. You're no better. William Somerset:
I didn't say I was different or better. I'm not. Hell, I sympathize; I sympathize
completely. Apathy is the solution. I mean, it's easier to lose yourself in drugs
than it is to cope with life. It's easier to steal what you want than it is to
earn it. It's easier to beat a child than it is to raise it. Hell, love costs:
it takes effort and work.
3)Dr.
Beardsley: He's experienced about as much pain and suffering as anyone
I've encountered, give or take, and he still has Hell to look forward to.
4)John
Doe: What sick ridiculous puppets we are...and what gross little
stage we dance on...What fun we have dancing and fucking...Not a care
in the world...Not knowing that we are nothing... We are not what was
intended.
5) William:
"It's dimissive to call him a lunatic. Don't make that mistake."
David: "Oh come on, he's insane. Look,
right now he's probably dancing around in his...in his...in his grandma's
panties. Yeah, rubbing himself in peanut butter."
6) William:
"This guys methodical, exacting, and worst of all patient."
David: "He's a nutbag. Just because
the fucker's got a library card, doesn't make him yoda."
Review:
Seven is
a dark and very disturbing film that punches you in the face and leaves you pondering
the filth that sometimes makes up our world. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering
in which form would the next sin would come in. To set a ominous feeling for the
movie, it's raining in many of the scenes and the picture has a grey look to it.
Academy award winners Spacey (American Beauty)
and Freeman (Glory, Shawshank
Redemption) turn in incredible performances. Brad Pitt (A
River Runs Through It) is perfectly cast as the emotional young cop. The
end of the film is one of the most intense endings in recent years and an intelligent
one at that. When looking at the horror genre, one has to put this film up there
amongst the best of all-time (The Shining, Silence
of the Lambs, Psycho). Review by Aaron
