An Al-Anon Member's Concept V Appeal

PART 18 - The WSO Cover-up

I couldn't believe that the Executive Director actually wrote an e-mail like that!

I mean, did he really think that I was that stupid?

Both the Regional Trustee and GSO said that the Associate Director - International had sent a letter about my attendance at the Regional Service Seminar with a suggestion that the Regional Trustee meet with me to discuss my attendance.  When I spoke with the Associate Director - International she denied all knowledge and insisted vehemently that she had never sent any such letter.  Obviously I had been lied to by someone.

So what does the Executive Director do?  Instead of confirming that no letter had been sent he then concocts some ridiculous story that a memo had been sent instead.  Obviously if the Associate Director had really sent a memo she would have referred to that on the phone.  Why did she become so annoyed and deny sending a letter, if she had sent a memo?

I realised that expecting any kind of reasonable, rational behaviour from Al-Anon was futile.  They couldn't even admit to being wrong or having told lies.  Instead they cover-up lies with more lies, and so it goes on.

I once heard an AA member describe Al-Anon members as a law unto themselves and I realise how true that description was.  If you are a law unto yourself, you can forget about adhering to Traditions or upholding any kind of fairness or justice.

My relationship with WSO, unfortunately like the Al-Anon groups, just went from bad to worse...
