Please, Don't Ask... |
You might guess that I receive a lot of e-mail from visitors to this website. I appreciate all messages and I do my very best to answer e-mails as quickly as possible. But, I ask that you please be patient with me. Besides receiving a lot of mail, I'm also quite busy- I travel a lot and also, naturally, am often busy with work, friends, and family. I'll get back with you, it just might take a little time! But, there are messages that I might not answer for different reasons and I wanted to explain them here. This first subject is flattering, but ultimately a waste of time- I get a lot of mail from people asking me to explain high magick and to be their guide in showing them how to learn techniques of high magick (I also get mail from people asking me to be their guide in Wicca or witchcraft). I'm not offering my services to anyone- I'm not a teacher and wouldn't be qualified to suit anyone in that respect- also I have no time. I'm flattered that people have asked, and if someone wants me to offer my opinions or advice on specific matters, I would be more than happy to do so. But please don't ask me to be your teacher. I also get mail from people saying that they don't appreciate how I "make Wicca look bad" by repeating that it is not an old religion and that Gerald Gardner "borrowed" from so many sources, etc., etc. Can't handle the truth? Then you don't have to be here reading this site. If anyone is looking for a site that only feeds out the standard, "Wiccans don't worship the devil and Wicca is the religion of our ancestors," garbage, then they can go to AvatarSearch and look for other sites on Wicca. You won't find sugar-coated, half-truths on this website. I've even had different people suggest that they work on my site with me so that they can help me "portray Wicca in a more favorable light." Besides being a rather arrogant remark, I'm not in favor of leaving out portions of the truth about a subject so to keep it from appearing "unfavorable" in some way. My most recent annoyance is several people, who are English (I love the English, just annoyed by certain individuals) e-mailing me and telling me that Wicca and traditional witchcraft are the same because of their word origins. Yes, "wicca," "wicce," and "witchcraft" all have similar word origins, and I know that a lot of English witches and Wiccans use the words interchangeably because of this. But today, these religions and practises ARE NOT THE SAME. Modern Wiccan traditions are very different from nearly every tradition of witchcraft. And the Gardnerians, Alexandrians, etc., do not practise witchcraft in the traditional sense. Please, keep the e-mails coming! I just want you to understand some of my ethics before you decide to contact me. And again, don't be hesitant to contact me just because I have such strong opinions. I'm not mean or inconsiderate, just have ethics. And if you want to write me to gripe about something I speak about in theses pages, I look forward to being enlightened. |
