The following are my personal views of the god and goddess.... The goddess is the feminine energies surrounding all things that exists. My view is that her energies are concentrated in the moon- the moon is the goddess, figuratively speaking. No, I do not worship the moon, I just feel the moon is a feminine source of energy- it is a body that reflects and absorbs energy (making it feminine). Recently, my goddess revealed herself to me in meditation and asked to be called "Isis." Previously, I had always referred to her as "Goddess." I don't see her the way the Egyptians viewed Isis in ancient times, I feel this is simply the name she perfers at this time. The god is the masculine energies surrounding all things that exists. My view is that his energies are concentrated in the sun- the sun is the god, figuratively speaking. No, I do not worship the sun, either. I feel the sun is a masculine source of energy- it is a body that gives off energies to all (making it masculine). During the time my goddess revealed herself, my god did also. He asked that I call him "Ra." Previously I had called him "Cernunnos" or simply "God." Again, I don't seen him exactly how the ancient Egyptians viewed Ra, I feel this is simply a name he prefers. The earth, to me, is not "Mother Earth." The earth has within it and around it both masculine and feminine energies. Both the god and goddess exist within the earth. I also believe the god and goddess to be separate energies, not aspects of one energy. Our spirits, the spirits of the trees, animals, etc., are separate from the spirit of the god and goddess. However, the god and goddess lend us their spirits and surround us, living within us and without us. I do not work with a pantheon. I don't believe it's necessary to give names to the separate personality aspects of my god and goddess. I also do not believe that many gods and goddesses exist- only one feminine energy and one masculine energy. The following are basic Wiccan views..... Many Wiccans believe that the god and goddess are two aspects of one universal energy. They usually believe that the spirit of the god and goddess is within us and within everything. They do not generally believe the goddess is a separate spirit from the god- but that they exist as one energy with a masculine "side" and a feminine "side." They generally believe that "all gods are one god." If a Wiccan chooses to work with a pantheon- maybe Celtic gods and goddesses, or Greek gods and goddesses, or Egyptian, etc.- he or she normally believes that each god and goddess is simply a "personality" of the one god and one goddess. The gods and goddesses are not many- there is just one goddess and each goddess name represents one aspect of her personality. The same applies to the god. (Again, these are not my views, but basic Wiccan views.) Some Wiccans do believe many gods and many goddesses exist. Everyone has a different idea. So, there you go- my views, in case you are interested, and some basic Wiccan views as well. I'm not a Wiccan, but I used to follow a solitary Wiccan path. I decided to keep most of my "Wiccan" information here since many of my visitors are interested in Wicca. |
