Life in America's Outback

My name is Audrey.
I live in the space between
Between the Hill Country and the Panhandle
Between Dallas and Roswell
I live between two beautiful sisters and a most excellent brother.

Welcome to the Cat Ranch

The Cat Ranch is located in the town of Peacock, Texas. Look hard and you might find it on a map, but probably not. There's always a story to tell. The local flora and fauna play a large part in the goings-on. This is where we will feature animal stories, share wilderness adventures, and just about anything that pleases us. So, if you're bein'-haved, we can set on the porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of tea and have a nice visit.

The Gift
by C. Finley-Yoeckel

A tree cut down, yet will survive,
an off-shoot of a life gone by.

Molded by the angel's wing,
brought forth by God to reconcile a tragedy.

And no fairer light, than this light shines,
to show the world good will survive.

For as the sea, reflects the sun,
So root and branch in heart are one.

    Bear Warning!

Just in case you go camping this summer.

The Forest Service has issued a BEAR WARNING in the national forests for this summer. They're urging everyone to protect themselves by wearing bells and carrying pepper spray.

Campers should be alert for signs of fresh bear activity, and they should be able to tell the difference between Black Bear dung and Grizzly Bear dung.

Black Bear dung is rather small and round. Sometimes you can see fruit seeds and/or squirrel fur in it.

Grizzly Bear dung has bells in it, and smells like pepper spray.

    THE OIL SHORTAGE

There are a lot of folks who can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage in the USA. Well, there's a very simple answer: Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for this is purely geographical.....

All the oil is in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana.

All the dipsticks are in Washington DC
