Branson
and Memorial Day, May 2000
Silver Dollar City - some
typical scenes
Memorial Day week has been a great travel time for us in recent
years. In 1998, we went to Alaska, to visit Nancy's brother, Joel,
and his family. Last year, we were in Colorado,
celebrating our 40th anniversary. This year, we spent a few days in
Branson with our Daughter, Allison, and, spent Memorial Day in Iowa,
visiting cemeteries and Nancy's family there.
We go to the Branson area several times every year, so, we sometimes
take it for granted and usually don't think of it as a time to take
pictures anymore. This time, I had the camera for Memorial Day
activities, so, I took a few typical shots of Silver Dollar City
sights:
We still prefer the "hundred years ago"
theme part of the park rather than the new "kids water activities"
that have dominated the additions in recent years. Above, Nancy sits
on the front porch of the old log cabin that is part of "original"
Ozark homestead area of the park.
The Central Town Square is always a
favorite. Here is the Hotel on Main Street:
And, if you turn a bit to the left,
looking at the hotel (really an ice cream parlor, of course), you see
the General Store area:
Eating is often a main activity, we try
to avoid the lines, by eating at odd times:

Here, we bought two diffenet meals and
each some of each.....
The Cajun Connection is back in the park,
after a couple of years on the Branson Belle:
Fine music, dancing, and comedy, typical
of food entertainment acts at Silver Dollar City. We like them
all.
Ye Olde Stitching Post is typical of the
shops - Nancy never misses this one.
