Large Squash Bug - ? sp. 

Family Coreidae

We found this large clown bugs along Bulimba Creek in Yugarapul Park during mid summer season. They are the largest bugs we found in the Coreidae family.  The bugs are brown in colour, with strong hind legs and round shoulder.

2nd instars, body length 12mm                               3ed or 4th instars, body length 15mm
 
Early summer near Bulimba Creek in Yugarapul Park, We found quite a number of nymph, but cannot see any adults. The nymph is dark brown in colour with board forelegs. All the nymph are found on grasses near the water edge. Notice those young instars have the board pair of front legs.

last instars, body length 20mm
 
Those last instars bugs are found in mid summer in Eight Miles Plains bushland along Bulimba Creek. They are on the Monkey Rope plants Parsonsia straminea together with the younger instars. No adult bug can be found in the same plants. Notice that their front pair of legs reduced but the hind legs enlarged. The last instars have the same shape and round shoulder as the adults.

We found this large clown bugs along Bulimba Creek in Yugarapul Park during mid summer season. No nymph bug can be found near by. Those bugs were found on different plants so we are not sure what is their host plant.
