Beetle is feeding on nectar in gum tree flowers. This beetle will feed on nectar of various native plants during summer.

Above pictures were taken in October, late spring or early summer in Brisbane. During early to mid summer, they are common in Brisbane backyard and bush.

Like most other beetles, this beetle employ the drop and play death tactic to escape. We usually put our hand under the beetle when we come close to it. Most of the time it will drop onto our hand. After a minute or two, it will turn over and slowly walk away.
