Delcevo Now
The town has been bearing its
present name Delcevo since 1950 in honor of a great revolutionary
and ideologist Goce Delcev who had come here many times while he was
teaching in the village Novo Selo, near Stip.
After Russian - Turkish war (1878)a big number of christian
population left to Bulgaria and Turks-Magiri from Asia moved on
their place. There was a second big movement. Thirty years later
during the Balkan wars, but this time with Turkish population.
Between two world wars Delcevo was a small provincial town with
dilapidated houses, small number of craft shops with narrow muddy
streets.
