GUAN   ENG’S   CAREER    LIWATTED

The revelation by   the young 20 year old woman,  Norhayati Md. Yusof  that  she  was  forced  into  fabricating lies  about  Rahim  Tambi  Chik  when she was a  15  year  old  child  means  that  Lim  Guan  Eng’s  career  has  been  liwatted  in the ass.

Since  the  indication is  that   Brader  Liwat  and  his  cronies were  behind the  conspiracy  to  topple Rahim  Tambi  Chik  5  years  ago,  this  means  that  Lim  Guan  Eng   is  one  of  the  earliest    victims  to  be  liwatted  by Brader  Liwat.  Lim  Guan  Eng  has  gone  to  jail,  wasted
his  career  and  also   precipitated  the  succession  chaos   in  the  DAP   all  for  nothing.  Just  to  save  Brader  Liwat’s  ass, Guan  Eng has
sacrificed  his  own  ass.  This  is  called  first  class  LIWAT.

The  girl  has  boldly  named  one  Cikgu  Zainal  of  Sekolah  Dol Said,  Alor Gajah,  one Dr Maamor of  Jalan Ampang and one Senior Police Officer in   Bukit Aman as the parties who forced her  into  making  the  confession.  These  names  should  be  investigated.  Some  one  should  make  a  police  report.

It  appears  that  the  ‘arrest them,  torture  them,  ‘turn over’,  make
them  sign  a  confession’  tactic  has  been  used  before.  Ummi Hafilda
and  Azizan  were not  the  only  recipients  of this  treatment.

We  extend  our  heartiest  congratulations  to  LIM GUAN  ENG.

MESSAGE  FOR  MF  SANGKANCILLERS.

Doctor  Maamor  MF  Mengele  is  lying.   The  Doctor  has  said  that  a 15 year old child by the name of Norhayati  just  appeared  in  his  clinic
looking  for   treatment.  Out of  his duty of care  for the sick  he
treated her.  He  cared for her so much that  he even made her stay in his clinic for the night.   This  would be a first  in the history  of medical practise in Malaysia.

Lots of  young women become pregnant out of wedlock  and  many  of them   go   to the clinic.  Even the 14 year  old daughter of   Ustaz Ismail Kamus
became  pregnant   and  she  also  went  to a  see  a  doctor.  They are  all  frowned upon. None have been  offered  a   place  to  stay  by  anyone,
not even the doctors  treating them.

But  Dr  Maamor  MF Mengele   went further.  He even accompanied  his  friend the MF  Cikgu  Zainal  and  they took along with them  the  15  year
old  child   to  a  school  for  wayward girls  (the  Putri Wilayah  school or something).    The doctor  was stretching  his duty of care from the medical field right across  to the   field of education.   He was jumping
from the Hippocratic Oath to the Hypocrites Oath.

(IN the  meantime back in the doctor's clinic, his other patients  were  dying of neglect  because the doctor  had decided to  focus all  his
attention  on a 15 year old  child  - whom he had never met before -  to  ensure  that  she received the best education that  the country  could provide her at the Putri Wilayah school. What a nive and caring   doctor).

And lo and behold the headmaster of the school  for  wayward  girls  was  also  their friend.  They were  all  in  cahoots.  (Haven't    any of you
Sangkancil  MF     explored trhe ABIM connection yet  ?)

The truth is  the 15 year old child was kidnapped  and  kept  by  the  doctor  in his clinic  which were against  the laws of the land.  Someone  (like the UMNO  assholes - if they had any brains)  should lodge a police
report against the MF Doctor and the MF  Cikgu Zainal  for  taking her  from Malacca  to KL  and keeping her here   and there.

The   MF  Doctor   Maamor  Mengele   also  said that  he wanted to  help the girl  get transferred to  the Putri  Wilayah  school.   If any of you Sangkancil MF read  the Education Act  you will  find out that NO ONE - NO ONE at all, not even the  Minister of  Education, the headmaster, the  Director of Education and least of all  the MF Cikgu Zainal, who was only a
school teacher,  NO ONE  can order the transfer of any child  to any school  without the consent of the child and the parents/guardians or thru the order of a juvenile court.

One  more  MF  who is hiding in the background  of this plot  is  a  'lecturer at the International Islamic  University'.  This is  none other than  the same ABIM  MF  who  at  one  time  wanted to  topple Rahim Tambi
Chik  and become the  Chief Minister of Melaka.  Who are we talking about  here ?  Dr Sidek Baba of course.  He was  mentioned just once  in one  of
the papers.  These were the MF behind this little plot.

The real story is  that the MF plotters  had got hold  of this young child who has  had a bit of a history.  (Well  quite a lot of history  but we will   not go into that. She is married now and just wants to get along with her
life).  She also had a sister  who was  well  known  to  Rahim Tambi Chik.  Their relationship  was shall we say  'very  cordial'.   (And we all  agree
that  the MF   Rahim Tambi Chik was no angel).

The child  was  threatened  with incarceration  in the Putri Wilayah  school   (for her other activities  which were known to her discipline teacher Cikgu Zainal) if she would not cooperate.

Why the interference of  MF  Cikgu Zainal, the MF Doctor  and the MF Sidek Baba  and the MF Ibrahim Chendol etc ?   Because there was  no  police
complaint lodged by the girl against Rahim Tambi Chik.  She never pressed
any charges against Rahim Tambi Chik  : ))))    Later when the AG investigated there was  no  evidence  available.  (Hence  the  goof up by Lim Guan Eng - who has  destroyed his own career  because he never  used his brains correctly).

This is the same thing   that was done to Ummi Hafilda.  They had  her arrested, tortured,  'turned over'  then they forced her to sign a confession.

Then we come to the child's  grandmother, one old lady  by the name  of  Pundek  Ahmad.    If any of you Sangkancillers can remember anything at all
- this Pundek  Ahmad  was  called to  testify  at Lim Guan Eng's  sedition trial.  She was not able to testify  very well  becauise she kept  fainting
in the court.  Finally she was only able to say a few things.  Everyone said
what a brave woman she was.

Now we see  that there  is  a  lot  of  similarity between her  fainting  in court and Brader Liwat's  headaches in court  (By the way, Brader Liwat's
headaches disappear  as soon as he reaches his jail cell).  They sent  Brader Liwat for  a  brain  scan. Results : Nothing inside.

This lady Pundek  Ahmad  is  bent on  telling the whole  world  that her
grand daughetr is a WHORE.  (My granddaughter  was  screwed  by  Rahim Tambio  Chik , I tell  you !  I  know !).  What  a  fantastic  grandma.  The
child's  father has come out defending his daughter.  The  child's  father says  the girl is  telling the truth.  But not the grandmother Pundek Ahmad.
She insists  the  granddaughertr was  a  whore.   Not surprisingly  the  child  has  not  spoken  to  her grandmother since 1995.  What  a  grandma
!

Now we come to the message for the MF Sangkancillers.  Before when Ummi Hafilda was arrested, tortured, turned over and then forced to confess -
NONE OF YOU Sangkancil MF  came out to defend a young woman.

Now we hear the story of a 15 year old  child who had the same thing done  to her.  She was   held  against her will  (WITHOUT ANY CHARGES OR LEGAL
ACTION TAKEN AGAINST  HER BY THE PROPER AUTHORITIES) by a MF school teacher, a MF Doctor and another MF  school headmaster. Finally she  was  forced to sign a confession.

What  are  you  MF Sangkancillers  doing ?   What we see  here  on  this  list  is  assholes   trying to cast aspersions  on  the  child's
testimony.    And  none  of  you  can  think clearly  or  speak  up  against   things that  are  obviously  not  right.

If you cannot  speak up and defend  the women and children  in this country,   then  what  are  you  MF  really hoping  to  achieve ?   Maybe next time,
one  of  your  daughters, granddaughters  or  wives  will  get  caught  up  in  this  type  of  a  situation.  What will  you  do  then ?

p.s.  MF  stands  for  Muther Fu**er.
What Is The Truth Behind The Rahim-Norhayati Affair?
Early in the week, Norhayati Mohamad Yusop went public to declare that she never had any affair with Rahim Tambi Chik, the ex-Chief Minister of Melaka. The next day, her grandmother also went public to declare she HAD. Which is the truth? Will we ever know?

To get a better understanding of the matter, one has to go back to the time it was all supposed to have happened. News had just hit the streets that Rahim was having an affair with an under-aged girl. Then the girl mysteriously disappeared and her grandmother, who was her legal guardian then, became frantic. Not long after, more than a dozen people were charged and sentenced for having sex with this same girl. To close the whole episode, the Attorney General declared that they do not have enough evidence to prosecute Rahim for the same offense.

It makes one wonder what was the basis of charging this string of “sex offenders”, who were charged based on the mere strength of the girl’s testimony that they did have sex with her. This same testimony, however, was not good enough to charge Rahim. In Rahim’s case they needed evidence – which they say they could not find – whereas the same evidence was not required to find the rest guilty of a crime.

Was this whole exercise merely to demonstrate that this girl was of loose morals and, therefore, whatever she says is not credible? It was credible enough to find everyone else guilty.

Now the girl declares, at that material time, she was forced to lie and one of those who were instrumental in forcing her was a senior police officer. Isn’t this something criminal and shouldn’t the police now be pressing charges against this criminal police officer who had illegally used force to get an under-aged girl to lie?

Rahim says he was the victim and not the conspirator. If so how does he explain the book, “50 Dalil”, which was printed on premises owned by him? Anwar subsequently obtained an injunction against the book but it General Assembly, plus it was distributed to all officers in the Ministry. How was this possible unless there was a concerted effort to discredit Anwar and a team of conspirators working in the background?

There seems to be many unanswered questions and the matter can in no way just end here. If Norhayati did lie then, and if she was forced to lie, and as she has now identified who the culprits were, action needs to be taken against these people. However, if she did not lie then but IS lying now, is she being forced to do so? And therefore by whom? This sounds like nothing more than a public confession in a string of public confessions that we have been seeing over this last year.

Norhayati said her reason for “coming clean” is because her name was mentioned in the Anwar Ibrahim trial and she no longer wants her name to be dragged into the trial. Now the truth seems to be slowly emerging. It looks like it all has to do with the Anwar Ibrahim trial. They must be planning to disallow some of the statements made by Dato Seri Anwar from being used by the defense – and he certainly has made a lot of damaging statements since he took the witness stand.

Before this it was Murad’s “confession”. Now it’s Norhayati’s turn. Who’s next? I heard there are dozens more “come clean public confessions” planned - all aimed at ruining Anwar’s credibility and blocking as much of his testimony as possible. What will we see next? The Hong Leong boss “coming clean”? ABRAR’s boss “repenting”? Dato’ Ishak “regretting”? The Menteri Besar of Johor “telling all”?

Well, stay tuned for the next episode in this never-ending drama series called, “I Have Turned Over A New Leaf And Would Like To Publicly Confess My Sins”.

The Real Story Of The Rahim-Norhayati Affair
Last night, Norhayati Mohamad Yusop made a public declaration that she was never      involved with Rahim Tambi Chik, the disgraced ex-Chief Minister of Melaka. This      has just added a new twist to the whole episode, which not only saw the downfall of
Rahim, but also the jailing of Lim Guan Eng. As the say, the plot thickens, but what is      the real story behind the Rahim-Norhayati affair - or was there even one in the first      place?

Well, recently I interviewed someone from Melaka, a man very much involved with      the whole episode, and here is his story.

“Rahim called me one day to tell me he was having an affair with this girl and that it     was now giving him some political problems. He asked me to help resolve the  problem. Rahim trusted me because I already had some business dealings with him.
He had given me a 1,000 acre piece of land along the PLUS Highway not far from
Melaka, so I had an obligation to help him out.

Actually, in the beginning, Rahim was not having an affair with Norhayati, but with her
elder sister, a bar girl whom Rahim was meeting often for sex. One day Rahim    phoned her house and Norhayati answered the phone instead. She told Rahim that
her elder sister was not home. She also told Rahim that she had been meaning to    contact him because she needed to see him about something. Rahim then asked her   to come to his office.

Norhayati went to Rahim’s office that same afternoon and told Rahim she needed to    borrow some money. Rahim told her he had no money on him then and asked her to
come back the next day, but to come after 5.00pm when the staff had all gone home.

Norhayati went back the next day as instructed and that was the first time they had     sex – right there in Rahim’s office. Since then they met regularly for sex. Norhayati    was in it just for the money.

I, together with two other friends, kidnapped Norhayati and took her to Sungai   Golok in Thailand. Rahim gave us RM20,000.00 cash to take care of our expenses.
In Golok we questioned the girl at length and tape-recorded the conversation. The
girl gave us all the details of her sex sessions with Rahim, even telling us Rahim’s    sexual preferences, which was quite kinky and at times sick.

I then brought the tape back to Rahim and played it for him to hear. Rahim then
asked me to meet the girl’s parents and negotiate a settlement with them, which I did.
The girl’s father wanted RM500,000.00 plus another RM250,000.00 for the girl. I
also asked another RM250,000.00 for our “team”. All in all Rahim had to fork out     RM1 million to settle this matter. I also handed the tape to Rahim and assured him    there were no more copies though I did make one copy to keep just in case Rahim
did not pay me my RM250,000.00.

The girl was very “hot”. In fact, while in Golok, all three of us also had a go at her.
She was a real nymphomaniac and enjoyed sex so much.

The 1,000 acre land that Rahim gave me was subsequently sold to HICOM but I     heard they could not get approval to build the industrial park that they had applied   for. The Melaka government wanted HICOM to build low cost houses on the land,
which was impossible on that piece of land.

You can still see the HICOM signboard on the land beside the PLUS Highway if you    drive to Melaka. My brother, who is the Chairman of a public listed company, and a
partner with HICOM, arranged to sell the land to HICOM. What made me very   angry is that I did not receive one Sen from the sale of the land”.
Barrage of allegations bewilders Malaysian voters

PENANG - Malaysians are being treated to a dizzying exchange of allegations between the government and the opposition, leaving many bewildered in the run-up to the most bitterly contested election in years.

The latest claims were made by relatively unknown figures, but their impact may yet have an impact on public opinion.

In a seven-page declaration on October 28, a former assistant governor of Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara, alleged that he was made use of by then deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim to finance Anwar's political agenda, using funds from a 3 billion ringgit ($790 million) war chest.

Abdul Murad Khalid accused Anwar, now the opposition's main rallying point, of maintaining more than 20 master accounts through his ''cronies'' to fund his political activities. He claimed he personally knew of nine parties, including Anwar himself, being paid various sums totalling $32 million between 1992 and 1997. These recipients, Murad alleged, included key figures in the opposition such as Chandra Muzaffar, deputy president of Anwar's wife's National Justice Party (keADILan), and social reform group Aliran.

Denying the claim on November 3, Chandra slapped Murad with an $18.4 million libel suit. Aliran has said it will file legal proceedings soon. Other parties named in the declaration have also denied the charge.

Murad had resigned from Bank Negara on February 1, and was charged on September 16 for failing to declare assets worth 23 million ringgit. His case is pending. Murad's claim signaled a countermove against the political opposition led by Anwar, who had been claiming corruption on the part of several of Mahathir's ministers and saying in court there was a political conspiracy behind the premier's dismissal of him last year.

On November 2, a factory worker who triggered the resignation of a key official of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's dominant United Malays National Organization five years ago, stunned Malaysians with her claim that she had lied about their affair.

Norhayati Mohamad Yusop, now 20, whose identity had hitherto been kept confidential, told a press conference on November 2: ''I was kidnapped and kept in Kuala Lumpur for two weeks where I was taught and forced to lie to the prime minister and the police in Bukit Aman [police headquarters].'' Her statement reversed her own allegations in 1994, which forced then Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik to resign from all government and party posts, amid public outrage. The case also led to the one-year jailing of opposition lawmaker Lim Guan Eng, who had championed the girl's cause as a rape victim, on charges of ''sedition'' and ''publishing false news''. Rahim is seen as a bitter foe of Anwar, who was convicted of corruption last year and is now being tried on sodomy charges.

Anwar said in court recently that Mahathir had directed him to tell Rahim to resign after the scandal with the underage girl surfaced. ''A few weeks later, Rahim came to my office and I asked him to write his resignation letter as directed by the prime minister,'' said Anwar.

On November 3, Norhayati's shattered grandmother, Pendek Ahmad, flanked by Lim and opposition politicians, told a press conference that she believed that her granddaughter was lying the previous day when she denied the affair with Rahim. ''I believe she has been pressured and used by certain parties to make the declaration and statement denying the affair,'' Pendek said. Her remarks add yet another complicating twist to the matter. This has led to talk of possible political motives behind the newest denial by Norhayati.

Analysts say it is hard to gauge the impact of these 'revelations', but there are signs many urban dwellers are sceptical about both Murad's allegations against Anwar and Norhayati's claim that she was forced to lie. Others wonder about the identities of the masterminds, if there are any, behind the statutory declarations. Fresh on their minds are earlier statements by others linked to Anwar who said they were coerced while in custody into implicating Anwar in various misdeeds and ''confessing'' their involvement.

''Most Malaysians have reached a threshold of disbelief in anything the government has to say now,'' says human rights activist and former opposition member of parliament Kua Kia Soong. ''I think we are suffering a crisis of credibility at the moment. People have made up their minds.'' Kua concedes, however, that he can only speak for the people he knows and not for those from, say, rural areas, where conditions are different.

Some analysts see the latest revelations as ''overkill'' in efforts by the government's allies to discredit Anwar - not least because talk is rife that the Mahathir government could call elections soon. He has until June 2000 to do so, but is widely believed to be gauging the right time to call a snap poll. A judgment by government supporters that they have the upper hand against Anwar's camp is likely to affect the poll's timing.

Recent developments - such as independent medical test results released on October 5 that show no clinical evidence of arsenic poisoning of Anwar - do not help the case of the Barisan Alternatif (Alternative Front) coalition of Malaysia's main opposition parties. Earlier, Anwar's allies and family had said he was suffering from arsenic poisoning while in custody, triggering some of the biggest protest rallies since his arrest in September 1998.

Likewise, there is little time for the Barisan Alternatif, which has opted for Anwar as its prime ministerial candidate, to fight back. Indeed, some observers now believe the election may be held later this month or in January.

Either way, for Malaysian voters it means more political salvos to come.

Kenyataan Sabri bin Mohamed Yasin Bagi Pihak Ibunya Pendek binti Ahmad, Nenek Kepada Noryati Binti Mohamad Yusop, Mangsa Rogol Yang Terlibat Dengan Bekas Ketua Menteri Melaka Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik Di Hotel Belmount, Melaka Pada 3hb November 1999 .

bahawa Tan Sri Rahim mempunyai hubungan sulit dengannya.

kerajaan BN menutup kebenaran demi kepentingan politik.

Saya masih mengingati cucu saya begitu tersiksa semasa ditahan di Pusat Pemulihan Rembau sehingga cuba melarikan diri
banyak kali. Dia memberikan keterangan di mahkamah bahawa dia berjaya melarikan diri daripada tahanan sekali sebelum
ditangkap balik.

Semoga Allah S.A.W. boleh memaafkan cucu saya.

MAT PENANG
Puan Pendek dilaporkan berkata:

'Satelah berita ini tersebar melibatkan ahli politik negara, Perdana Menteri sendiri telah berjumpa cucu mak cik.Cucu mak cik telah menceritakan segala-galanya perbuatan tertuduh, tetapi langsung tidak mendapat perhatian Perdana Menteri. Akhirnya, dia (orang ternama)tidak didakwa sedangkan cucu mak cik ditahan di Pusat Tahanan seri Puteri, Rembau.Semasa kes dibicarakan, beliau dikatakan mempunyai rekod bersih sedangkan cucu mak cik pula dikenakan tuduhan baru.

Diakhir puan Pendek Ahmad dilapurkan berkata:

''Dia kata, kalau betul, dia mahu periksa saya.

Malaysian Dream from Kajang Prison
by Lim Guan Eng

(January 12, 1999) Malaysian opposition politican Lim Guan Eng was convicted last April of sedition for criticizing the way Malaysian judiciary officials handled a rape case. Lim was arrested in 1995 for promoting “disaffection with the administration of justice in Malaysia.” He had questioned the government’s decision not to press statutory rape charges against a Malaysian politician for having sex with a 15-year-old girl while holding the girl in protective custody for three years. (For more information about Lim’s case, read DFN’s analysis, Malaysian reformers.)

Lim’s imprisonment shows the great lengths to which Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed’s government will go to silence opposition. Anwar Ibrahim, former deputy prime minister and now an outspoken critic of Mahathir, faces sex and corruption charges; Anwar says the charges were trumped up to silence him.

On his 38th birthday, Lim released a letter from prison. This letter, published below, describes ten freedoms that he believes Malaysia needs for democracy. These freedoms include “freedom from inequality… and…selective prosecutions,” “freedom of religion,” and “freedom of telecommunications.” Lim Guan Eng will probably have to wait some time before he can enjoy these freedoms; his latest appeals to overturn his conviction have failed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These last 108 days have been a most trying and difficult period for me. The enforced separation from my family and loved ones has been as painful for them as it is for me. The loss of personal freedom is equally devastating.

But the physical, emotional and mental sufferings I had to endure was quite unexpected. It has been said that the greatness of a nation is measured not by how well the rich lives but how the poor, down-trodden and oppressed are treated in the slums and prisons. If we use such a yardstick, then Malaysia clearly does not come out very well.

Only prayers, the support and love of my family, the solidarity of Malaysians who demonstrated their love for truth, justice and fair play by signing the signature petition seeking my pardon, have sustained me throughout these challenging times.

It is soul-destroying for a man to be thrown into prison and treated like a common criminal for a crime he did not commit nor even considered as constituting a crime. Only my abiding and unshaken faith that I had tried to do right, correct injustice and uphold the truth enabled me to maintain a sense balance and proportion to face all the daily rigours, indignities and humiliations of prison life as a common criminal.

Regardless of what the courts said, I believe I am no criminal when all I did was try to held Puan Pendek binti Ahmad, a poor old and illiterate lady to seek justice for her granddaughter. I harmed no one when I questioned why the police detained the statutory rape victim but not her rapists.

I know I harmed no one when I questioned the Attorney-General why this rape victim, who as an underaged girl was treated like an offender with her sexual background publicly exposed and her reputation sullied.

I know I harmed no one when I questioned why her rapists were not sentenced to a single day’s jail for rape when they had pleaded guilty to statutory rape.

I know I harmed no one when I demanded that women’s rights be respected, not violated, so that rape victims are protected instead of being punished and rapists imprisoned instead of being set free.

I harmed no one when I criticised the Attorney-General and the police for only prosecuting 14 men (who were merely bound over by the court after pleading guilty) but not a senior politician, when the girl had admitted to the police that all of them had had sex with her.

Perhaps, the only persons I harmed were the girl’s rapists. The irony is that all the rapists need not spend a single day in prison whilst the girl was detained for almost three years and I am sentenced to three years’ jail.

Is this the type of Malaysian justice that the Prime Minister, the Attorney-General and the police are proud of? How then can our sisters and daughters be safe?

But then again, as a Member of Parliament, I should have known that the greatest harm I have caused is political in nature. Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik was forced to resign as UMNO [United Malay National Organization, Malaysia’s ruling political party] Youth President and Melaka Chief Minister because of his alleged involvement in this sex scandal. [The 15-year-old girl confessed to having sex with Rahim.]

Rahim’s resignation is a political fact that is accepted, even welcomed, by all Malaysians except the Prime Minister, which perhaps explain why I am in Kajang prison.

The central issue is still justice or rather the lack of it, where the rape victim and the MP [member of Parliament] who expresses it are both detained and imprisoned whilst the rapists get away scot-free.

The rape victim does not understand this type of justice. Her grandmother does not understand either. Neither do I. Nor 20 other million ordinary Malaysians .

Only the Prime Minister, the Attorney-General, the police and the rapists understand such perversion of justice. That is why I do not have confidence that I will be successful in my application for a full pardon from the King as the Pardons Board comprises the Prime Minister, whose advice the King must accept.

Even though I will likely be disqualified as MP with loss of all financial benefits and my political career terminated, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I tried to fulfil my role as a MP to the best of my ability.

If my imprisonment is necessary to prevent such perversion of justice, where the rape victim is punished, whilst the rapists are unpunished, from occurring again then I have done my duty. I have no regrets and my conscience is clear.

This knowledge allows me to sleep tranquilly at night, even in prison. And dream dreams. Dreams of a better Malaysia. A social democratic Malaysia founded upon ten essential freedoms:

No Rights Without Responsibilities, No Authority Without Democracy
One, the freedom of full and effective participation in democracy. Such freedom must be on a continuous basis by all Malaysians towards creating a healthy, meaningful and functioning democratic culture. Just as democracy is not just limited to the holding of elections, Malaysians must exercise their rights to be fully involved in decision making leading to:

No Justice Without Equality
Two, freedom from inequality is most relevant in demanding justice in administering our laws. Selective prosecutions and double-standards between the rich and poor or based on political considerations makes a mockery of the concept of equality before the law.

No Allocations Without Accountability
Three, freedom from corruption is essential to economic prosperity, productivity and financial well-being. Cronyism, nepotism and money politics must end.

No Humanity Without Respect
Four, freedom from fear is necessary to protect, promote and preserve basic human rights and prevent abuses by an oppressive and repressive government.

No Prosperity Without Equity
Five, freedom from want is vital to ensure that all can enjoy economic wealth — that in pursuing economic prosperity, we must not forget existing social inequities and the poor especially poverty, malnutrition, illiteracy and economic imbalances.

No Unity Without Diversity
Six, freedom of religious belief is a recognition of our cultural and religious diversity that makes up our Malaysian nation. Such recognition is a prerequisite in attaining national unity in our multi-racial society based on tolerance and mutual respect.

No Excellence Without Opportunity
Seven, freedom of opportunity must be given to every Malaysian to realise his or her full potential. Our human resources must be given every opportunity to develop to enable Malaysia to compete internationally. To ensure equal opportunity, groups that were disadvantaged historically must first be assisted to allow them to compete equally with other groups.

No IT Without Full Accessibility
Eight, freedom of telecommunications realises the importance of IT to the economic survival and prosperity of Malaysia in the New Millennium. Unless we are IT adept, we will not succeed in becoming a developed country and we will be economically marginalised. For IT to be fully inculcated, the press must be free and telecommunications freely and fully accessible.

No Stability Without Family
Nine, the freedom to preserve and promote family values and social order is crucial to a stable, prosperous, moral and democratic society. Despite the great diversity in our various cultures, there is unity in diversity. Our multi-cultural races have many commonalities such as importance of nation above self, family unit, consultation and consensus, thrift, hard work, respect for learning and adherence to religious values.

No Well-Being Without Nature
Ten, the freedom from environmental degradation emphasizes the right to a clean, healthy, natural and quality life. No amount of wealth can purchase health. Similarly no amount of prosperity can create a sense of well-being if the air we breathe and the water we drink is foul and dirty. We must not only reduce pollutions but preserve and protect the great natural heritage given by God.

We are born free. When we are allowed to enjoying our freedoms given to us by our Creator and in accordance with universally-shared moral values and free to develop our full potential, we can not only live with honour and dignity but contribute towards a progressive society.

Malaysians are born free and thus have a right to enjoy these ten essential freedoms. It is our inalienable right.

To those who wish to deny Malaysians these ten essential freedoms, deserve it not for themselves.

These may be the dreams of one prisoner in Kajang Prison, but they can also be the dreams of all Malaysians who cherish their rights, know their responsibilities and understand their obligations. And most importantly, want to restore our rights as the rulers of Malaysia, not the servants of those who rule over us.

Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people, and not government over the people.

The firm basis of government is justice, truth and reason, not tyranny. We seek to restore these values, not destroy our institutions. Let us begin to firmly restore these values into our institutions—Parliament, the judiciary, executive and the press—by peaceful and democratic means.

This is the cause we should undertake for Malaysia.

I wish to thank all my supporters who have first stood by me when I was first charged in 1995 and continued to stand by me even after I was imprisoned. I hope that when I am reunited with my family, we can also reunite in this cause of ours to make a Malaysia in the new millennium founded on these ten essential freedoms. To realise our dream of a Malaysia owned by all Malaysians that is free, just and democratic.
