So your mother never taught you how to cook!!! What do you Do....
Cooking in Korea can be a very interesting experience! First of all...all you have is a gas stove (yes..no oven!) So forget about making yummy cakes, cookies, lasagna or any of those other things you may want to make! I have a slight idea how to bake...but to cook! oh..I don't think so! When I first came to Korea it was scrambled eggs every day! But slowly but surely I learned to cook. By the way...how many different ways can you make eggs (because I think I know them all!!)

Well actually cooking isn't that bad and if you do know how to cook, then Korea can be a wonderful place. Most of the food is fresh! The open markets are a great resource for fresh seafood, meat, fruits and vegetables! But if you are more into the supermarket thing, well have no fear! Right now in Ulsan we have two very good supermarkets and you can find many wonderful imported foods, but don't eat the peas! (disgusting here!) There are also little supermarkets in every neighborhood (but very little imported food) and if you need something in a hurry, conveinance stores are everywhere.

Honestly your best bet in Korea is to learn how to make Korean dishes. Many of them are fast and easy, and most koreans are very willing to teach you how to cook. They get free english lessons and you get the wonderful knowledge of Korean recipes. There are also many cookbooks available in English for Korean food, and western style cooking.. I have found cookbooks for everything from traditional meals to Korean vegetarian cooking! and if all else fails go out to eat!
