A visit Kg Uwang Asli Sungai Kelubik, Rawang
On 11 January 2009, I went to a FIELD TRIP trip with Kujal to Orang Asli Sungai Kelubi village. For your information, Sungai Kelubi village is my grandfather village. My grandfather name Asang and he’s a Batin ( Chief ) there. But he has just passed away a long time ago. Emmmm….I used to lived here when I’m 1 until 6 years old. Then I move to Bukit Lanjan village. Sungai Kelubi village were far away from the city. it’s a isolated location. There’s once a beautiful lakes over here but now, when sand taking activity the lakes water over here become muddy. There’s also no electricity over here? How could that be??
That’s why, we do FIELD TRIP over here. We want to write and article about the problem their facing over here. The electricity problem. I saw there’s a lot of electricity pole over here but still no electricity were available on every single houses here. Were try to reach Batin Dari ( my uncle ) but he’s was busy. So we don’t want to disturb him.
So we decided to interview Kupak and Sal.They both are the villager in this village. Luckly their want to be interview. Kupak told us that this village has no electricity just because the JHEOA officer in Hulu Langat said to them there’s been a electric pole problem over here. The JHEOA officer told them there’s certain electric pole have to move from it’s location and this is why there’s no electricity in this villages.
But the real reason is religion and race discrimination. For your information, about 97% of the villager over here are Christian. The rest still practicing Orang Asli custom. So we had guest that this is the JHEOA discrimination against the Orang Asli over this village. Let’s take look at Malay village. Even though their village were far way from the city. Still there have electricity.
There’s been twice a JHEOA officer were visiting this village to discussed about this electricity problem, but still there’s no solution. Orang Asli in this village are still live without electricity even though the also live in the year 2009. This is the religion discrimination were practicing by the JHEOA.
Kupak told us that their can install the meter them self but the cost are to expensive for them. For installing their own electricity without the government fund their had to pay RM 330 per house. They can’t afford it. A lot of the villager whom life over here only working at their own rubber estate and their can earn about RM400 only per month.

Kujal also told us that this wasn’t the first time that their had been discriminated. The first issue this the olden wooden bridge whom always destroy by the heavy water due to heavy rain. Their want to make a new concrete bridge but after a long wait about few years then the JHEOA give them a new concrete bridge. They also receive only 5 “Poor people house” from the JHEOA.
When we were interviewing them , Sal treat us with drinks and some biscuit. After we were finished interview , we saying goodbye to them them. We ended our FIELD TRIP at Sungai Kelubi village.
