Friends & Fam, Well, our time in Hollywood is nearing an end. But it hasn't passed without Glen and I reducing ourselves to media whores! The last two evenings have been spent in the studio audiences of the TV shows 'Politically Incorrect' and 'Becker', shamelessly laughing at unfunny jokes in return for this raw and revealing look at the 'guts' of our favorite form of canned entertainment. We even got on TV! We were in the first row at Politically Incorrect. The camera angle was such that Glen and my smirking faces were on either side of one of the guests (as if we were the devil and angel on his shoulder). At one point when the camera was on us, Glen elbowed me in the side and we almost burst into uncontrollable laughter on the air... fortunately, the show already aired on Monday night. The best part of both tapings were the comedian warm up guys who came on during down times. They were hilarious- there are so many talented people down here looking for a piece of the limelight. We even had people from the audience getting on the mike and singing their own songs last night at Becker. On Sunday night (I'm working in reverse chronological order here) we went to the famous 'Improv' on Melrose for an AIDS benefit comedy show. It was great- these LA people must be spoiled though, because Glen and I were laughing way more than anyone else. The show lasted for 3+ hours and there were about 10 different comedians, all hilarious. And some guy from the audience tried to get up on stage and do an act at the end... these people are nuts. On Saturday, we went rollerblading and scootering down on Venice Beach. We saw the famous Muscle Beach, some amazing sand sculptures, and even some Fabio looking guy prancing around in a store window modeling leather pants and jackets sans undergarments. Speaking of stud muffins, our host Trevor has been especially gracious in feeding and housing us for the last week, and we thank him enthusiastically! Next stop is Deep Creek Hot Springs (on the Pacific Crest Trail in Hysperia, CA area) for some camping and soaking. We may not be on a computer again for awhile once we leave, but keep those emails and Guestbook messages coming. Hasta, and much love, Greg & Glen |
