Hi, We are in Tucson, AZ. Sorry about the guestbook starting with the first entries... I don't think there's a way to change that, but will look into it. The Deep Creek Hot Springs mentioned in the last entry were spectacular! The best springs I've ever been to. On the night of the 6th, we hiked 6 miles in the dark, and were rewarded with 3 rock terraced, beautiful pools- basking in the starlight. The temperature was perfect for sustained soaking- I relaxed in the pool looking at the stars for hours. We will post pics when we can. The next night (the 7th) we met back up with Trevor and his 3 dogs in Joshua Tree National Park. This was my first time there. I kept insisting that we find the very tree on the front of the U2 album, but Glen wasn't having it. On the 8th, we kicked it in Palm Springs for a couple hours, and then drove on to the Salton Sea, where we camped for the night. On the way, we stopped for dinner in the small town of Mecca, which turned out to be a preview of Mexico. Everyone in the town was Mexican- the signs were in Spanish- even at the restaurant, Glen had to bust out the Spanish skills to talk to the waitress. Yesterday was spent mostly basking in the sun at Salton Sea, but we managed to hit 2 hot springs as well: the 5 palms springs, which were only 92 degrees, and the Holtville springs (Dad and Lee should remember these!) in S Cal- about 30 miles west of Yuma, AZ. Today, we covered some ground, driving through AZ to Tucson, where I currently sit in the Public Library, reminiscing. Much love, Greg |
