An all Brother Dominic Issue!

The Log of the Pacific Explorer, continued.

June 3rd  - In the dives today, Alex has discovered the source of the damned mites that infect this region of ocean. There is a medium sized vessel beached on a reef approximately thirty feet down. If we can get the assistance of a dredger and some underwater weapons, we'll proceed. The vid attached to this log shows the reason for the artillery. Those claw marks are nearly eleven inches wide. There is a theory about a variant Maze dragon, but we have no proof. We met a fellow junker named Phillip Masters, who is attempting to get a sea plane past the fog barrier to explore Hawaii.  Could we get Matthew or perhaps William to go with him?

June 6th- Rick spotted a distant rock formation yesterday, off our port side. Twenty hours later, it turned out to be a gorgeous spiral of blue and pink coral, nearly five meters above the waterline. Late that night we discovered that there is a faint glow from the formation. Wishbone attempted to swim over for a sample but Mark P. locked him in the brig. Expect a long and detailed complaint from Wishbone when we get back.

June 8th- Matt and M have come down with an aggressive skin rash. Exposure to freshwater seems to accelerate the spread. Saltwater hold the rash in abeyance, at least for the three days of observation. Sonar has uncovered a large school of fish three kilometers southwest of our current position...Matt has succumbed to the skin rash. He has scraped nearly every inch of epidermis off his body. Bacterial infection has finished him. M is following along the same lines, saltwater no longer has any effect. I do not expect him to last the night. Wishbone swears that the two snuck off for a swim around the coral formation noted on the 6th. I have labeled the position as a human/naval hazard.

June 12th- Alex, despite his worsening arthritis, has uncovered another wreck with some British Navy designations. A scouting party has discovered that the rear hold has been hermetically sealed. We could use that junker drill Buford cooked up. Could you please have Li try to uncover some of the command protocols for the HMS Hood? M remains in his coma. Lisa thinks this may be a good sign. M has begun muttering. He repeats "the wave from the east" Can you run this through the cruncher and see if anything sticks?

June 15- Phillip Masters found us on his return trip from the islands. He reports that the fog barrier is three kilometers thick and extends at least 25 kilometers in either direction. Phil landed near Oahu, he says that there is a "cargo cult" led by a tattoo-covered Syker (his words, not mine) He also found narcotic compounds in most of the foodstuffs being used as barter materials by the islanders. He also reports that the natives will not leave Oahu. They call the other islands "the lands of death".

JACKPOT, NEVADA- Cecil Martin, the town councilman, is offering a bounty of canned goods, clean clothes and a small amount of medicine in exchange for the hunt and capture of the Nine Hells motorcycle gang. Last week, the whole crew blew into town and started raising hell in the lone surviving bar. When Martin wandered by to get them to crank it down a notch, the gang whipped out automatic pistols and started filling the air with lead. There were blessedly little fatalities as the gang shot its way out of town, but the weapons themselves got the Councilman to thinking. Each one had at least two NA Thunderhead automatic pistols in their possession with at least a dozen clips to go with them. Martin is curious as to where the gangers got their matching weapons and so much ammunition.

TRANQUILITY PEAK, COLORADO- The underground enclave in the northwest corner of the state is passing on a warning concerning Combine troop movements. One of the rangers attached to Tranquility arrived back to the camp in a panic last week. He said that he had eavesdropped on a Combine patrol receiving orders to return to Denver. When the officer requested clarification, he was told that there had been an attack on the Denver industrial sector and that troops were being called back to form up with an armored column heading north. The ranger thinks that the Combine is assembling a massive retributive strike force; folks north of Colorado are advised to find a hole and pull it in after them.

GRAND LIBRARY SACREMENTO, CALIFORNIA- Librarians are offering a bounty for the capture and return of a known thief called Cedric. This light-fingered waster apparently advanced his reputation in the underworld by slitting the throat of a junior archivist returning to the Grand Library. The Master Librarian is keenly interested in a number of Dataslugs that the archivist was bringing in for study. According to reports, the junior librarian had uncovered them in the ruins south of Shan Fan. They were heavily encrypted, but she had managed to ascertain that they were a set of logs and records to something called WHATELEY.NET
