The Hat Society, established in 1995, is a multifaceted organization designed to promote hat wearing and highlight the people (and animals) who wear them.  The Hat Society mission is to educate, enlighten, and entertain the public with the express purpose to promote hat wearing.  By focusing upon the diverse needs of all sectors of the hat-wearing public, including western, pop, fashion, ethnic, costume, sports, medical and vocational styles, The Hat Society provides the hat wearing public ready access to all hat related information.

The Hat Society is the only non-retail consumer-oriented business devoted exclusively to promoting hats and headwear and providing information to hat fanciers about the wear, care and preservation of hats.  As a liaison between the hat-buying public an retailers, hat designers, milliners, and manufacturers, The Hat Society will provide timely information about hats and their use in society.  The consumer who is knowledgeable about hats will wear them more frequently and enjoy their diverse benefits.

The Hat Society is comprised of several departments which focus uniquely upon hats:

Publication: Hat World is a quarterly consumer-oriented, educational and entertainment publication available by subscription and through retail hat stores,. Also in development is a catalogue featuring hat accessories and hat-shaped items such as pill boxes, greeting cards, wall hanging, calendars, hat racks, and other hat-related items.

Special Events: "Hat Festival" is a regional trade show and convention developed by The Hat Society. "Hat Festival" provides the public an opportunity to buy and sell hats and hat accessories.  Booth rentals are affordable and are filled with new and antique hats for sale to the public.  The Hat Society also provides consulting for individuals and groups and is available to present seminars on a number of uniquely different HATopics.

Hat Referral: Call-in information is also available to the public at no charge on where to locate a particular style hat and the local and nationally recognized milliners doing custom work.

I. Hat World
The new quarterly publication, Hat World, features colorful photographs and vivid illustrations of the famous and not-so-famous. Men, women, children and favored, pampered pets and the hats each wear will be portrayed in every issue. The focus is on hats and hat wearers representing all walks of life.  Hat lovers around the country will enjoy seeing movie television and entertainment stars, sports heroes and working professionals wearing their signature hats and learning what makes their hat so special.  Perhaps the hat has survived an alpine avalanche (on top of the survivor!). Maybe the hat was kicked off by a wild mustang or swatted off by a raging grizzly. Perhaps the hat belonged to great great granddad, and still looks great and fits perfect !  Maybe a beat up and battered hard hat saved the person's life!  We'll search the globe to find the story.

Fun, educational and interesting articles cover the history of hats and the role of hats in history dictated by style, status and glamour. Hat designers and hat makers from western hat designer and trendsetter John B. Stetson to internationally- acclaimed and recently deceased US high fashion designer Frank Olive are profiled in every issue.  The psychology of hats, summary of hat exhibits, hat care and storage tips, how to wear a hat, what hat to wear and when, the latest fashion trends and spins, hat etiquette, hat lingo, and how hats are made are all regular features.  Readers are encouraged to submit hat-related ideas, photographs, short stories, anecdotes, opinions and suggestions to Hat World.

Regular departments include:

Hat Chat which provides hat-wearers a readers forum.  As a column to "tell my own hat story", comment on Hat World or expand on the world of hats in general "Hat Chat" is there for you!

Hats and Health is the department provident information and tips about the benefits of wearing hats for individuals suffering hair loss.  Regular input from the medical community will address hat protection, sun-induced skin cancers, and offer "hat healthy" tips.  As an alternative head covering for the needs of chemotherapy and other medical patients, flattering and comfortable hat styles are regularly featured.  Where to purchase special hats locally and by mail order will further assist subscribers to Hat World.
