Comments: The combination of Lillian Jackson Braun and George Guidel reading have made the "Cat" series one of our favorites. Our family have listened to 12 of the series so far and are hot on the heels of the rest. Our library system is missing about 6 of the tota series, and we are not sure if it is because they are not in print, or if we don't have them yet. The ones they do have must be put on hold to check them out, they are that popular! Nice Site. Carl.

Comments: I have always been a voracious reader and was encouraged by my mother. She purchased the first eight Cat Who books for my when I was about eleven. I loved them, having a passion for cats, but admittedly did not appreciate some of the tongue-in-cheek humor since I was rather young. Shortly after being married in 1995, I was going through old books to take with me and discovered my eight books that started me on a whole new adventure. I saw the wit and comedy these books held and was overjoyed to discover th t, while growing up, a whole slew had been written. The Cat Who series has now become one of my all time favorites and am diligently collecting them. I am kicking myself, however, that I have missed the opportunity to get most of them in hardcover. Your website is interesting and I wish you good luck. I am rather new to the Internet and found it by luck. As a mom of a 3 year old and a 3 month old, I don't get to web surf much!
Comments: Lilian Jackson Braun is one of my favorite authors.. i really like the series.. I have read most of her cat who books, there are a few i cant find, though...

Comments: Love "Cat who" books
Comments: My grandson (age 12) is the cat who fan, reads them all..well, I should say has read them all (many more than once) I am helping him out on a homework assignment..He is doing a paper on the author and two of her books. (could not find much about her.) I am happy that there is some body who writes good, clean books that you do not have to pre-read before letting the little ones read them. I had (to my sorrow) never heard of the Cat Who series until Stephen started to read them. Now, I DO know and I love them.
Comments: I got turned on to The Cat Who books about a year ago and have read ALL of them. Since I have back problems, audio tapes are the best for me. But because I love the series so much, what I cannot get unabridged on tape, I take on the challenging task of eading in hard copy. How could I possibly not??!!

Comments: I love TCW series. I try and read it all in one day. It gets me in trouble sometimes though.
Comments: Interestingly enough, one of my cats, Quebie, knows when I am reading an LJB book. He sniffs all my books, but nibbles on her books. He rubs on them and seems to be glad that I am reading about cats!!!!! Russ is the "soother" in the family. Whenever I' down or can't sleep, she jumps on my tummy, I pet her, and her "motor" gets really loud, soon I'm relaxed!!! She somehow knows when I need for her to do this. I am definitely a Cat lover and have been for years.
Comments: I was turned on to TCW books about 5 years ago. I have read all and just today bought TCW Robbed a Bank. I must go and read now...

Comments: February 10, 2000 I never really read Lilian Jackson Braun TCW books. I had seen them on bookshelves in stores. I never really brought one of her books. Needless to say, back in 1997 1998 I went to a garage sale. The first ones I got were TCW talked to ghosts, and TCW live high. The next garge sale I went to I got TCW could read backwards. The first one I read was TCW talked to ghosts. I found the book most interesting. I then read TCW lived high. The latest book I got in the Cat Who series was TCW robbed a bank. I got this book as a christmas gift. On this day I finished reading TCW knew a cardnial. Now I'm reading TCW could read backwards. I thought I would never be a fan of Lilian Jackson Braun. I have to admit she is now one of my favorite authors now. I look forward in getting more of her books in the TCW series.

I haven't read Robbed a Bank yet, but shall soon. Own all LJB books in h rdback except it, and have read all at least twice. |

Comments: I was talking with a friend on the way to work and we were questioning the age of Mrs.Braun and if she is mentoring someone to take over her stories when she decides to retire (or even if authors do things like that). I mean, we have a hard time waiting or the next book to come out.... let alone the end of the series. We decided we would definately miss Quilleran!

Comments: You guys made a little mistake on your site. I have to admit it got my curiosity up when I saw a book on Feminism and Socialism by our beloved cat author, so I looked the book up. Take note that the author, a Lily Braun, died in 1916, the same year Lilian Jackson Braun was born. Below is the listing from the Indiana University Press home page. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Selected Writings on Feminism and Socialism Lily Braun Translated and edited by Alfred G. Meyer This anthology makes available for the first time in English a sampling of the writings of Lily Braun (1865-1916), a prominent German feminist and socialist whose ideas were ahead of her time. A companion volume to Meyer's fine intellectual biography of Braun, this book underlines the relevance of Braun's ideas to the concerns of the women's movement of our own day. Publication date: 1987 Specs: 256 pages ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Take Care, Matthew Ballou

Comments: I enjoy the TCW series for all the obvious reasons: a good read without lurid details and each book seems to hit on a current social or political theme i.e. aging, homeless, inner city redevelopment. I am so pleased that my mother, who is approaching her 90th birthday has also found a new reason to read for pleasure in the TCW books, a passtime which is increasingly difficult with her deteriorating vision.

Comments: September 25, 1999 I love this guest book. I learned a lot. I was thrilled to discover a web page dedicated to Amelia Peabody. I love that series by Elizabeth Peters. It also has a VERY smart Egyptian cat named Bastet, who happens to be a female. I recommend the series highly. Start from the beginning, though, whith Crocodile on the Sandbank. It gives good background on the main characters. Bastet the cat doesn't enter into the series right away, but she's there on the third or fourth book. If anyone has any other r commendations for great mystery series, please e mail me. I love series. Rita Mae Brown is another author who writes a good mystery series. I recommend joining the my delphi chat and message board forum. I believe the address is delphi.com/lilian Ple se feel free to e mail me. I love getting e mail and I never get enough of it.

We would me so honored and proud if Ms. Braun could possibly come to visit Va Beach Public Library. If this is at all possible, please let me know. We have had other authors in the past such as Stephen King, Tom Wolfe, Gail Sheehy, Connie Porter, Marc Brown, and more. Most of the library staff are cat lovers as well as TCW fans. | Comments: I read my first LJB book by accident...I forgot to send in one of those stupid little reply cards to my mystery lovers book club and got the "selection of the month" which was the three novels. I thought "Since I bought it, I might as well read it." I gue s God works in mysterious ways...from then on I was hooked! The tough part is waiting for the books to come out in paperback - English books are pretty expensive here. I have just started reading "TCW Sang for the Birds" in German. It is pretty tough and fter a few pages my mind goes numb, but I'm hoping to (one day) master the language. I would love to hear from other LJB fans: write to me! - kitty P.S. If you haven't checked out the rainbow page, do so. It's fantastic! |
Comments: It's fun to recognize Upper Michigan attitudes and geography in Ms. Braun's books. I also appreciate Ms. Braun's ability to kill off good characters for the sake of good plot. No sentimentality for her!

Comments: My husband and I keep house for 4 furry felines, and we have 11 furry grand-felines who live with our chidren. Our kitties are: Ming(15), Paws(12), KoKo(2) and Bear(1). We are retired. My husband was a compute analyst and I was in sales. Our hobbies are; Music, Art and Theatre, and we belong to an Old Times Radio Theater group. We recreate old radio shows from the 30's and 40's, like My Friend Irma and The Great Gildersleve. I hope there is somebody out there that remembers these shows!! We perform for nu sing homes, library groups, churches and whomever will take us! It's a lot of fun! I guess my favorite quote is "If you find yourself meowing more than you speak English, then you have been around cats too long". Author unknown. Anyway, I have read all 21 of LJB's books and am avidely awaiting her next book which will be "The Cat Who Robbed A Bank", to be on the bookshelves in January of 00. I'm seriously thinking of starting all over on her series, because it's so hard to wait a whole year for her next bo k!!
Comments: Great site...I plan to spend more time exploring it later. Still reading my way through the books...just finished "Breakfast". Glad there are still quite a few left in the series.

Comments: I was very pleased to finally find a fan club for Lillian Jackson-Braun. My sister got me hooked on The Cat Who books after the death of my beloved friend, Puss in 1997. Through the clever antics of Ko Ko I am able to remember my feline friend fondly an with smiles instead of tears for his loss. I truly enjoy the story of Jim Qwilleran and the goings-on in Moose County--I only wish that Yum Yum had more to do in the stories other than providing Ko Ko with a playmate. Female felines are just as clever as males. There are 7 of The Cat Who books that I have not yet read. I finish one and can't wait to start the next. Needless to say I have become a fan of Mrs. Braun. I was amazed to discover that she began writing this series in 1966, the year I was born! I certainly hope she continues for many more years. Sincerey Delilah

Comments: I love "The Cat Who" series. I own all the books and I am on my third round of reading them. I have a cat named Norman who is not very smart, like KoKo, but he likes to cuddle up on my lap when I read. So I guess he's ok.

(Welcome to my Nightmare Tour). I hope all your dreams come true. Regards, Tracy. |
