Once a Saint, Always a Saint!

JC times are the most enjoyable time. It is also one of the most fast-pace study periods that I ever had.

Our class was 1S6 and subsequently 2S6. We were a double Maths (Maths C and F Maths) + Physics and Economics. Our class was quite rowdy with the "Crow" - Cheryl leading the "Four Marketers" (1 marketer has noise level of 1 market) - Cheryl, HuiFen, HuiYu and Audrey, aka the "Dog". They would start the ball rolling at their stronghold at the front and right side of the class with all of us guys giving support fire from the left and back. Our class always made it a point to hang out together - frequenting the KTV every month - with our very own "God of Song - Jackie Cheung" JunPing and QingHuan. We also had our teaser ZhiXian keeping us entertained. Well, for your info, I was the "Old Man" as I kept forgetting stuff - even name of SengHong after 1 month and I was with him everyday!

My studies were horrible in JC. Thank God again he sent an super duper smart angel in the form of my best friend or my second bro - WeiAnn. He mentored me a lot just to keep me in pace. I would say without his help and  his "original" work - I would have definitely extended my stay at JC. Luckily I can help him back in Chinese... hehehe.. You see - he and my third bro, SengHong are "banana men". Well the three of the brotherhood spend lots of time together sharing our thoughts (well, it is confidential... ;)), studying and having quality time (chess, movies).

I recalled fondly of sneaking into the indoor court to play basketball with like-minded people... We would play in the indoor court which happens to be our hall. The sight of the discipline HOD will send us fleeing in all direction as playing ball in the indoor court is prohibited. The fate for those who skipped lessons will be D.C. while the fate for the beloved ball will be in the dungeon of the school basketball training cage. Although the owners will have their ways of rescuing the ball in distress and captivity...;p

I took part in the Inter-JC-Chinese-Debate team and was made captain. It was a very rewarding experience. Our team consisted of LiShan, WanShi, DunHong, WeiPing and me. We spend lots of time together - doing research, practicing against our supporting team, undergoing coaching by our relentless teachers and analyzing our opponents. Well, we did miss a fair bit of class lesson of about few weeks to months. Therefore, it was hell playing catch-up with school work.

Again, I was fortunate years of honing my skills in copying had come into good use - special thanks to the source - WeiAnn again. Our team qualified with seven other teams going through to the Qualifying round for the knockout stages. We faced ACJC in the first round. We finished as Semi-Finalist with us losing to HwaChong JC. They became the champion in that year. It was unnerving in competition as the audiences were easily a few hundreds and the debates were on TV! hehehe, at least I was on TV twice with the camera focusing me - my few minutes of close-up uninterrupted... ;p

I also continue two of my favorite past-time - I joined the Chess Club and continue to serve in St John. I went to Officer Course in 1996 - the year of my A-Levels. It was tough, luckily I had made a good friend, PeeSuet in the course that help me coped with the pressure. I also represented SAJC in the Inter-JC Chinese Chess competition with me as the captain in my second year.

Well, in JC I really got to know there is always a mountain taller than another. It is there that I learned there are two kind of "S-Papers" - Special (for smart dudes) and Supplementary (for those are adapting)... hehehe, but in the end as my civic tutor - Dr Liew had put it simply - you only need 3 A-levels subject + passed your GP to have a full-cert.

Hahaha, for me, the only strong subject is my AO Chinese - I was the top in my year - at least save a bit of face... ;p

I am also grateful that our class still manage to keep so close to one another even after graduation. We practically grew up together, sharing moments of preparing our As, our NS, our university days and so much more. In life, it doesn't matter how fast you finished the race - the important thing is - finish it. I am glad that I have friends along the way. "Up and On!"
