Additional notes
The Pioneer class vessel is configurable with two saucer options. The larger Science saucer is also home to civilians and family's. The smaller, tactical saucer gives the ship a greater power to weight ratio and makes the ship a formidable warship.
Swapping between saucers needs a suitably equipped starbase. Not only to perform the procedure of swapping the saucers, but to provide docking facilities for the unused one.
The naming convention for the Pioneer class is names of historical pioneers
Registration numbers for the PIONEER-Class DRV are of the 139xxx series.
