Another Ryu Daisuke pic at Gifu castle.
This pic was made by 'Tokugawa Miyako'. It's faithful to the universally-believed Oda Nobunaga's way of glancing at stuff and people -- the one that Luis Frois, among others, described as 'haughty'. I love it. Thanks so much, Miyako-san.
It's a spiffy pic, this one, and I've never seen it before. Oda Nobunaga has almost never been depicted on horseback with anybody else nearby, let alone an officer of his clan whose job was to take care of such stuff (it's not supposed to be Mori Ranmaru there, is it?). This picture was sent by 'Sol Bianca' from Tokyo. Arigato, Bianca-san. |
This is Oda Nobunaga when hunting -- the pic was sent to me by Christine Richardson from Hong Kong. Thank you, Christine....
Another pic, found online by Tokugawa Miyako -- that's the Gifu castle behind Oda's 'official pic'.
And this tough li'l Nobunaga was also sent by Tokugawa Miyako. That's a gun behind Oda's neck, isn't it? He made his own guns, you know, since 1576. Click here.
This is Oda Nobunaga according to a painting at Inuyama castle in Gifu. They said the painter was a Roman Catholic, so the pic was loaded with Christian icons of every sort -- including that Bible right behind him. This has been helping to build the very wrong impression all these 500+ years, that Oda Nobunaga was 'interested in Christianity' or even 'almost converted'.
