Before you can do anything with the submarine, you need to know how to use the controls.
First, you will find a big handle on the right. When you click it, it makes the sub go forward. That is all it does. If you are at a dead end, when you click it the handle will simply return to its original position without doing anything. In that case, you have to reverse direction first, then click the "Forward" handle.
Second, you will see a lever mounted on a round piece in the center of the console. This is the reversing switch. When you click it, the sub reverses to the opposite direction.
Finally, there is a horizontally-mounted lever at the bottom of the console. This is the direction control. When you are faced with a "Y" in the tracks and can go one of two directions, the sub will go whichever way the lever is set. If it is left, the sub will take the left track. If it is right, the sub goes right. If the track is just straight, it doesn't matter which way the handle is. The only time you need the direction lever is when you are faced with a choice of going right or left. |
