James Cameron

James Cameron born at Cousland near Dalkeith, Scotland, wed 04 Jun 1832 at Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland to Jane Park born about 1810 - 17 Apr 1897 aged 82 years, daughter of Jonathan Park and Jane Gunn.

James Cameron c1800 - 11 Nov 1871 and 4 children came to Adelaide about 1845 with Jane Park, then moved around 1855 to Tarnagulla where they operated a Tailor's Shop. James died of head injuries received in a buggy accident between Sandhurst (now Bendigo) and Tarnagulla on 9 Aug 1883. Jane moved to Eaglehawk to live with her daughter Jemima until she died on 17 Apr 1897.

Hello my name is Cathy Oliver and I live in Broken Hill, NSW. The Camin family that you mention in your site are related to my family the conection is as follows. Ellen Jane Camin (nee Gilby) is my great great grandfathers sister. Richard Gilby, Ellen's brother married Mary McGivern in Hay, NSW they moved to Balranald then they moved to White Cliffs, NSW where Richard Gilby worked on properties around White Cliffs and Wilcannia. He passed away in Wilcannia at the age of 87 years. HIs son Hubert Gilby who owned Mulga Valley Station via White Cliffs is my great grandfather and their daughter Annie Smith (nee Gilby) was my grandmother and her daughter Vida Carter (nee Smith) is my mother. If you would like any information on my side of the Gilby family I would be more than happy to share the information with you. My grandma was Margaret Gay, she came to Victoria to train as a nurse but she visited her uncle (jack?) Austin whose wife has just died leaving him with a young family. She stayed to look after them and married my grandfather whose last 2 wives had died leaving him with 5 children. They went on to have 4 children my mother was no 2 and she had 4 children too. Most of the family live within a 5 mile radius of where grandma lived but her Gr grandchildren are scattering now.

I know that Robert Carr died in Hay NSW in 1897, son of Robert. Mary Nolan is my ggrandmother she died in Hay NSW in 1914, daughter of Michael.

And I answered Hi, Are you saying that Mary Carr nee Nolan, mother of 9 children, divorced Robert Carr who died at Hay NSW in 1897?
In 1881 this lady of mature years wed John Henry Smith in Louth in NSW then died in Hay 1914 - after a happy marriage of 33 years.
I have just noticed I have child 9 out of date order, and checking the Index and found it is the death at age 5 and that William gained an extra name
So thanks for writing, so at least I got that detail corrected.

I have Mary Nolan's birth as 1843 born in Ireland she came out on the Medway in 1854 with her parents where they lived in the tent city off flinders street. She had 10 children born between 1861 and 1878 and she later married John Henry Smith in 1881 at the age of 38 years old and had another 5 children where she passed away in 1914.

Susan Nolan died 1804 - 1868 #1872 aged 64, daughter of Ann unknown and John McNanny born at 'Clar'
