Ferguson

My grandfather was George Welsh Ferguson.

Two Ferguson brothers married two Wolstenholme sisters, the two farms established by the Wolstenholme brothers, "Anglehome" and "Hazeldean" were side by side at Milawa and their brick homes were identical. I lived at "Hazeldean" until I was nearly 20 yrs so I have a close knowledge of the families.

John Ferguson 24 and Grace 19 came from Ayr on the ship Medina, 956 tons, Captain J. Sandford, from Liverpool 26th June 1852, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 9th October 1852. See Medina passengers

John Ferguson and Grace Kerr 1833 - 1911 #6379 aged 78, daughter of Margaret Vass and Andrew Kerr, came 1853 via Adelaide where their son Hugh was born. They selected land in the first land sales on the Hurdle Creek in December 1858. They also selected other allotments in the Parish of Oxley. As their family grew up and married, the two eldest boys took over that farm and John & Grace moved to Milawa where they built a substantial brick home on their property that was next door to "Anglehome". Unfortunately John had only six years to enjoy his comfortable home before he died in December 1890.
