Elizabeth Adamson - Christening: 8 February 1806 in: Leigh, Lancashire, England Father: Joseph Adamson, Mother: Mary Jackson.
Spouses: Thomas Southern, William Nuttall, Mathew Wolstenholme. She appears to die before the Wolstenholme family migrated to Victoria.
Elizabeth had first married Thomas Southern and had a son, Thomas. She then married William Nuttall and they had three children, Hannah, Elizabeth Sarah and William.
Elizabeth Southern wed third on 29 September 1835 in Manchester Cathedral to Mathew Wolstenholme c1806 - 2 November 1865 aged 61 yrs 1865 #8165, son of Sarah Olive and John Wolstenholme, born in Manchester, England, and died in Ovens Hospital, Beechworth, Victoria.
Mathew's first wife was Mary Ann Butterworth

William Nuttall and Thomas Southern travelled to Australia together in 1852 in search for gold.

is working on the Wolstenhome family- starting from Matthew Wolstenholme who married Elizabeth Southern. She comes down generations from his son Matthew James who married Mary Jane Davenport and cousin Bonnie comes down from his son John who married Sussanah Hutchinson Auld.
I noticed you have John and Susan Wolstenhome with 12 children which is what we have - Elizabeth who marr. Thomas Davenport is also of our family and had 11 children - Emily who married Richard Ward is also of our family and is correct Emily died in 1866

has given extra details, especially dates and also Elizabeth Adamson's first two families.
John Wolstenholme and his father arrived in Australia in 1854, by passage in the sailing vessel Phoenix at Liverpool, and going out occupied 100 days. We landed in Melbourne and the next day we took passage on the Bridalbane steamer for Geelong in order to see a neighbour of ours in the old country - a Mr John Lowe, butcher, in Moorabool street, with whom I stayed 5 years. John Wolstenholme was seventeen when he first met Susannah Auld. She had arrived in Australia in 1852 with her parents and also lived in Geelong.
Mathew Snr. returned to England in 1855 and when aged 53 yrs, returned to Australia on the Black Eagle, departing 28 Oct 1858 and bringing with him his two younger daughters, Elizabeth, 14 and Emily, 11.
John Wolstenholme obviously fell in love with Susannah Auld and saved his money which enabled him to purchase land at Milawa, then classified as Oxley, in the first land sales. He and Susannah were later married in a double ceremony with his sister, Elizabeth Wolstenholme who wed Thomas Davenport.
"Hazeldean" was a Ferguson property. My great grandparents, John & Grace Ferguson selected land in the first land sales on the Hurdle Creek in December 1858. They also selected other allotments in the Parish of Oxley. As their family grew up and married, the two eldest boys took over that farm and John & Grace moved to Milawa where they built a substantial brick home on their property that was next door to "Anglehome". Unfortunately John had only six years to enjoy his comfortable home before he died in December 1890.
The two farms, "Anglehome" (owned by John Ferguson and Susannah) and "Hazeldean" (owned by Mathew Ferguson and Mary) were side by side at Milawa and their brick homes were identical.

5. Florence Emily Davenport 1878 #5646 wed Johnathan Robert Sheridan. They had a son Leslie Raymond Sheridan in 1905.
He married my grandmother Barbara Annie Julie Beyer in 1942. They had one child Kay Leonore Sheridan in 1943 and then separated. Kay (my mother) never met her father. In fact it wasn't until my daughter was born and I was filling in her 'baby book' in 1991 that I was able to get his name from my mother.

I just got a copy of Ann and Joseph's marriage certificate which shows a double wedding for Ann and Matthew.
I'm still confused where she fits in...her maiden name appears to be Hayes.
Her first hubby was Matthew Wolstneholme died 1865, born Manchester, son of John Wolstenholme and Sarah Olive age 61
She became a widow in 1865 - Matthew Wolstenholme....son of John W and Sarah Olive

Joseph and Matilda Wise nee Hatton came about 1848.
