William Albert Treffene was indexed as born to Annie Treffene 1888 #19873. When he died in 1952 at Mildura aged 63, his parents were listed as Elizabeth Hughes and Joseph Treffene. This suggests he was reared by his grandparents and possibly knew Annie as a sister.

From on Wed, 23 May 2007 Hello Elizabeth I have just come across your web page with your various families and I see that you have Treffenes in the line. I can add a bit of information to Louise Treffene who married John Smithers Roberts as I have been researching the Roberts line: John Smithers Roberts was born at Camden in 1870 to William John Roberts & Sarah Jane Smith who wed 1868 #3509. He was the 2nd of 13 children. John Smithers and Louise had 5 children in NSW: 1. Clarence Smithers 1897, Barmedman 2. Allan Smithers 1899, Barmedman 3. Jack Smithers 1900, Goulburn 4. Lionel Smithers 1904, Goulburn 5. Doreen L Smithers 1911 Waverley. In 1903 electoral roll John Smithers Roberts was a postman. He died on 14 February 1953, his usual residence was in Brigton-Le-Sands. I don't think I have looked up the Sydney Morning Herald for his death, but that is something I can do. I have been able to find some marriages and deaths of the children, but not the death of Louise. She was supposed to be alive in 1953. I was unable to find Catherine's death. Catherine Tregillis born in Tipperay, Ireland, wed 1892 #2931 to Harry White.

I came upon you website while searching net for various names in what I have for research so far in my family and noticed on your site you mentioned Ellen Lavinia Barnes who died in Mildura and you were not sure what her connections were so I thought I would let you know as she was my great Aunt! Ann (nee Tregillis) b. about 1817 in Cornwall and Richard Johns b. about 1820 Cornwall had several children before coming 1850 to Australia. (They are my paternal great grandparents). Richard Johns died at Campbells Creek 1895 Ann Tregillis Johns died in Castlemaine 1881. Their first child Australian-born child is Josephine born in S.A and a daughter Lavinia Pakenham died in S.A. in 1850....would be around time they arrived. Richard Johns, wife & two children came on the ship Pakenham, 660 tons, Captain F. Boyce, from Liverpool & Plymouth 16th December 1848, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 21st March 1849 - see Shiplist for this arrival, or use IE and go to Passengers has them as arrivals, but no list of passengers - JOHNS Richard, wife {Ann nee TREGILLES?}, 2 ch arrived 1849-03-22 on Pakenham from Liverpool via Plymouth 1.
