Hello Elizabeth, It is a long-shot contacting you about Trevenas, but I am curious to see if yours tie in with mine. It was the Avoca connection with caught my eye.
My 3x great grandfather Thomas Hellings married Mary Trevena 0n 24 Jul 1825 at St Gluvias Parish Church, Penryn, Cornwall. Mary Trevena was the daughter of Stephen Trevena and Mary nee Hambly, who married in Kenwyn, Cornwall in 1792.
Thomas and Mary Hellings' son, also Thomas Hellings, married Elizabeth Laen-Gay in 1829 at St Gluvias. They migrated to South Australia in 1854 and were settled at Moonambel, Avoca three weeks later when my great grandfather, another Thomas Hellings, was born (in a tent).
I wonde if you see any familiar names?
Regards, Rosemary Richardson, London UK

Are these yours? The barque Sultana, 588 tons, Captain D. Mainland, from London 24th April 1851 / Plymouth 2nd May 1851, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia 8th August 1851. passengers included Thomas Hellings 47, Miner of Cornwall, Mary Hellings 47, Henry Hellings 16 and Edwin Hellings 13

Elizabeth Gay has babies from 1854 to 1874, so she was hardly married in 1829 - more like born or christened that year. and 4 of her sons died, looks like 1869 the schoolboy brought home a nasty that also killed two little brothers.
