Count de Rochefort
Captain
of the Cardinal's Guards |
"The Three
Musketeers"
.
.
Count Rochefort is one of
Michael's most popular characters. We have more Rochefort admirers in our
club than any of his other characters, with the possible exception of
Adrian de Moxica. Michael plays the part of Captain Rochefort with gusto,
his cat-like movements and his chilling presence make this version of
Dumas' bad guy very popular indeed. The sword fight at the end is very
exciting and Michael, Kiefer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell give their all
in this scene. |

Captain Rochefort (Michael
Wincott) stands on the balcony overlooking the forecourt where the
King's Musketeers wait to hear what he has to say. He informs them that
the Musketeers are now disbanded and they must disperse. |
|
|
With a parting shot at the
furious Musketeers, Captain Rochefort smirks and says "All for one,
and one for all" before striding back inside to report to Cardinal
Richelieu (Tim Curry). |
Captain Rochefort spots Dartagnan
(Chris O'Donnell) who he knows supports the Musketeers. His
delight shows in his face as he prepares to take on the boy. |
|
|
Scorned and insulted by the three
Musketeers, Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Porthos (Oliver Platt)
and Aramis (Charlie Sheen) Rochefort closes his eye for a few
seconds, blocking out the unpalatable threesome from his sight.
|
Rochefort has captured Dartagnan
and the boy is sentenced to death. Rochefort glares after Richelieu who
has just left him with another parting shot. |
|
|
On the verge of assassinating the
King on Richelieu's orders, Rochefort is interrupted by the arrival of
the Musketeers. |
Rochefort smiles and says
'Impressive' as he witnesses Dartagnan's athletic antics. The Captain it
seems is enjoying the sword fight immensely. He is going to enjoy
killing the impertinent boy |
|
|
Supremely confident in his great
abilities as a swordsman, Rochefort casually informs Dartagnan that it
was he who killed the boy's father years ago.. |
At the last second, with the help
of Constance, Dartagnan manages to catch Rochefort unawares. Taken by
surprise, Rochefort, the feared Captain of the Cardinal's guard dies on
the palace steps, bringing a tear to many a fan's eyes. Still, death is
but fleeting.. |
