Eastern Gate

The Eastern/Golden Gate

Christ is able to majestically step through stone and mortar, but what a sight it would be, if the Gate is still standing when He Returns, to see the stone crumble before His Presence! My - the Splendor, Awe and Power of His Return!

Can't you see His feet stepping down on earth! Hallelujah!

~~~ Historical facts about the Eastern/Golden Gate: ~~~
The Mount of Olives faces the Eastern/Golden Gate of Jerusalem.
When Jesus was on earth, when the Gate was still open, He walked through it many times, as He went between the Mount of Olives and Jerusalem.
Thinking to prevent Christ returning through the Gate, the Muslim conquerors of Jerusalem (the Ottoman Turks) sealed it in the 1500's. (There are teachers who believe this to be a fulfillment of Ezekiel 44:1. See the *QUESTION below for those who believe otherwise.)
His Return
Zechariah 14:4 - And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the East,
~~~ Jesus returned to Heaven from the Mount of Olives. (Acts 1:9 - 12) One day His feet shall stand again on the Mount of Olives. (Zechariah 14:4) ~~~

Matthew 24:30 - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Revelation 1:7 - Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him,

Zechariah 14:9 - And the LORD shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and His Name One.

The Millenial Gate That Looks Toward The East

Ezekiel 43:2 - And, behold, the Glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the East: and His voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with His Glory.

Ezekiel 43:4 - And the Glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the Gate whose prospect is toward the East.

Ezekiel 44:1 - Then He brought me back the way of the Gate of the outward sanctuary which looks toward the East; and it was shut.

A *QUESTION For Those Who Hold The View That The Present Eastern/Golden Gate Is Not The Ezekiel Gate.

Q - If the Gate of Ezekiel 43:2,4 and 44:1, is the Millennial Gate and not the present Eastern/Golden Gate, why would it be shut in the Millennium?

An Answer Taken From A Brother In Christ's Email.

A - It is shut in the Millennium to tell the people living in the Millennial period that God in the Person of Jesus Christ and the Glory of the Lord will never leave them again. Remember back in earlier Chapters of the Book, Ezekiel described the reluctant four staged process of the departure of the Glory of the Lord of Israel from the Temple to the Mount of Olives and then completely. The first stage (Ezekiel 9:3a) was from the Cherub (first position) to the threshold of the door of the Temple (second position). The second stage (Ezekiel 10:18-19) from the threshold of the door of the Temple to the Eastern Gate (third position). In the third stage the Glory of the Lord departed from the Eastern Gate and moved over the Mount of Olives (fourth position) in Ezekiel 11:22-23. Finally in the fourth stage of departure, the Glory of the Lord left Israel and disappeared from Jewish History.

The Glory of the Lord was not in the second Temple as it was in the first Temple (see Haggai 2:9). However, Haggai 2:9 contained a promise. He promised that the Glory would come in some different form and in a greater way to that second Temple. This manifestation of God's Presence had to occur with Jesus Christ because the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD.

The Millennial System of Priesthood and Sacrifice is dealt with in Ezekiel 44:1- 46:24 and deals with the various laws regulating the Millennial system. Ezekiel 44:1- 3 concerns the law of the outer Eastern Gate. The passage states that in the beginning of the Millennium, the outer Eastern Gate will be shut never to be reopened again throughout the Millennium (vs. 1). The reason for shutting of the Gate is due to the fact that the Glory of the Lord of Israel shall return by way of the Eastern Gate, (Ezekiel 43:1- 9) never to leave Israel again (vs. 2). This is a symbol that the Glory of the Lord will never depart from Israel again.

Glory to GOD,
The KING OF KINGS Is Coming!

The Holy City

Frederick E. Weatherly and Stephen Adams
Written In 1893

Last night I lay asleeping, There came a dream so fair,
I stood in old Jerusalem, Beside the Temple there,
I heard the children singing, And ever as they sang,
Methought the voice of Angels, From Heaven in answer rang,
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Lift up your Gates and sing,
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna to your King!"

And then methought my dream was chang'd, The streets no longer rang,
Hush'd were the glad Hosannas, The little children sang,
The sun grew dark with mystery, The morn was cold and chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose, Upon a lonely hill,
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Hark! How the Angels sing,
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna to your King!"

And once again the scene was chang'd, New earth there seem'd to be,
I saw the Holy City, Beside the tideless sea,
The Light of God was on its streets, The Gates were open wide,
And all who would might enter, And no one was denied,
No need of moon or stars by night, Or sun to shine by day,
It was the new Jerusalem, That would not pass away,
"Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Sing for the night is o'er,
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna for evermore!"
