Prior to 1968 there was two Canadian Provost Corps units in the Toronto area. These were 2 Coy CProC (M) and 7 Coy CProC (M). In 1968 Unification was started with the RCAF, RCN and Canadian Army combining to create the Canadian Armed Forces. With Unification the 1st and 2nd Toronto Service Battalions amalgamated to form 25 (Toronto) Service Battalion. At the same time 2 Coy CProC (M) and 7 Coy CProC (M) combined with 2 Intelligence Training Company to for 25 Service Battalion's Security Platoon. In late 1974 or early 1975, 25 Service Battalion Security Platoon was redesignated 25 Military Police Platoon. In 1983 the Intelligence Branch was created, resulting in the Intelligence personnel departing to form Central Militia Area Head Quarters Intelligence Section. This left 25 Military Police Platoon as a strictly Military Police organization.
25 Military Police Platoon has a current manning level of 22. Two Officers, four Senior NCOs, and 16 other ranks. All members within the Platoon are Reserves and all are MPs. 25 Military Police Platoon operates in support of 32 Canadian Brigade Group located in Toronto.
