The Photographers Guild at San Jose State University was founded over the Summer of 2004 by a group of photography students who felt that a new dimension of their university education was needed in the form of a student led organization. The hopes are that, together as an official entity; they will be able to create a lasting and reputable foundation for the future that awaits them.

In their first semester as a guild, membership and support from outside the university system has been tremendous. Guided by two faculty members, Brian Taylor and Yvonne D Williams; the members of the guild have been quick to set up many events for the inaugural semester.

A group exhibition, critique hours, field trip, prints sales, and visiting lecturers are but a few of the events that the young organization has planned for the immediate future. In addition, fund raising activities are already in effect, a raffle for photography supplies has begun this week and various other activities are in the planning stages such as the Print Sale.
