What are we struggling for? |
We are struggling for an all Ireland (32 county) Socialist Republic. Following in the footsteps of Connolly, Larkin, Costello and many others we hope to work for and build socialism in Ireland, a system whereby exploitation, injustice, sectarianism, racism and inequality cannot exist.

Anti-Imperialist/ Anti-Capitalist |
A Socialist Republic would no longer support the interference of British/ American Imperialism or an Irish Capitalist Government. Capitalism would be exploiting (hard work but feck-all pay) the labour/ skills of the working class to make a profit for a rich minority.
Capitalist governments often use a low tax but high cost model of society. This creates the illusion that we are not paying much in tax when in reality our cost of living is so high that we are indeed paying a high rate of tax
Co-management at the work place
We favour co-management of business over a hierarchal staff model of business. As normal workers are the one’s who make the business run, whilst management simply make decisions (traditionally), it is the normal workers who should be entitled to a share in the profits of the company that they have had a huge part in making.
Example: if the business makes €500,000 in profit every year in a company of 10, who are all doing pretty much the same job, why should we still be on minimum wage? The extra money should go into our wage envelopes or should go into creating better working conditions for ourselves and not go into buying the boss’s new car or new holiday home. We all have bills to pay also. Lowering our wages to give us ‘benefits’ is not a benefit at all.
As the line in the song goes ‘the first 3 hours of my working day I made my wage, the rest is how you made me pay’.

What is this ‘socialism’ you speak of? |
Socialism is a economic system whereby the people (of Ireland in this case) would own the instruments (all tools, machines, hardware and software) of production (anything that needs to be produced for people to use), and the instruments of distribution of wealth and resources (water supplies, natural oil, gas & minerals, forests, farms) are owned by the normal people of said country.
|
|
Distribution of wealth |
Distribution of wealth would be depending on how much work is done by each and every individual in order to make society work. Those who work harder, get paid more (as opposed to bosses or managers who may do little and get paid more than most). So those who have wealth would be those who work their arses off, not those who invest the most money.
|
|
Distribution of resources |
Distribution of resources would no longer be at the intent of making profit for the ruling peoples (i.e. the Government/ minority rich), in fact there would no longer be a need or want for a Government as we would see it today. Any type of Government would be made up unions and town councillors, bringing the needs of the workers to the fore and helping to distribute wealth and resources depending on the needs of society.

Our flag |
Our flag is that of the working class - The Starry Plough AKA The Plough and the Stars. It was originally created for the Irish Citizen Army who fought in the Easter Rebellion of 1916. The I.C.A. was set up to protect striking workers from the brutal attacks of the police and army. The only true Republic is a Socialist Republic.

Socialism is International |
The working class, the oppressed and exploited, those living in poverty and despair can be seen all over the world. We are oppressed at the hand of a minority who control the distribution of information, wealth and resources. They keep us under control with their slaves in the police and army, they miss-educate us with their own brand educational system, they shut us up and keep us out of the media. We stand solid with all the working class, anti-imperialist, anti-neo-liberalist movements of the world. Our struggle and their struggle is the same.
