Roots |
Roots run deep and long. They are tough and unwilling to break. They are often unnoticed. Roots penetrate the unfamiliar, cool, black soil. They are not suffocated by the lack of air or sunshine. They continue to thrive, deep, underground, almost undetectable. Roots use the resources they have. Because of this protection, roots are difficult to permanently damage. Roots can be walked over. They do not wither up and die. They just bury deeper and grow with age. Roots anchor the plant. They do not allow it to just blow away and be lost forever. People try to dig up these roots, but somehow the plant continues. Roots are smart. They know the path to survival. Roots provide nourishment for the plant to blossom. Even when the flashy leaves are absent, roots are there, storing nutrients for later on. In this way, the plant can continue. |
