Escher
illustrator of impossibillities
Fill-in means that he has started with one figure, and filld it up with others, it's hard to explain, so take a look for yourself.
Escher is an dutch illustrator. He has made illustrations of very different things. The most famous illustrations of Escher are the illustrations with impossible things. At the waterfall picture, for example, you see the pilars going on upwards. But if it were real it wouldn't be possible. He also made a lot morphosis' and a lot 'fill-in' illustrations. with morfose I mean that he starts with one thing and end in another thing. like the Morphosis II (morfose II)  below..
metamorfose
Escher has given us a lot to think about and to look at. Personally I think he was one of the best illustrators around. He made no 'ordinairy' illustrations, but makes illurstrations of wich you'll think at first: what is so intruging about them. when you take the time to look further, you'll see more...

Though it is not as famous as his fill-ins, metamorfoses and his impossibillities, Escher has also made a lot of beautiful 'normal' pictures. Like the one left.
