Happy Birthday Dear Joey!

Today you are 5 years old. What a roller coaster for the emotions this day has wrought. Five years ago today was a day that held the most miraculous event of my life. When I saw your beautiful face - I realized that my most precious dream had come true. You, dear Joey, were every wish, every dream, every miracle that your daddy and I ever hoped would come of our love. We were so happy – and so very blessed. And yet -- There won't be any birthdays to really share with you now – it's the most bitter part of the sweetest memories of you. The list of things we will never get to share and learn together – it fills a large dark space, deep in my heart. And yet – There is the knowledge that you won't have to endure any more physical limitations. Your beautiful eyes so distressed with agony as seizures rocked your body – I know you don't have to suffer that now – for that – I am grateful. And yet – We still can't touch you, or hug you, or cuddle you to sleep. I spent so many hours of your life, watching your angelic face while in peaceful dreams – Oh, how we miss you! And yet – We know, dear son that because daddy and I are all that is left of you here on this earth, we promise you that we will love one another and care for one another as a tribute to you and the value of your presence in our lives. Daddy and I spent some special quiet time together today. We remembered together, we laughed and cried together and we cuddled together … all with special loving thoughts of you.

With the sun – there will be clouds
There is bitter with the sweet
We'll love and live in your memory dear son,
Until once again, we will meet.

Sending all our love through the angel air mail,
Your momma & daddy, Monica & Tony N.

My Little Angel Joey,

I look at my angel statue that sits in my backyard everyday, and I know how very near you truly are. I feel you around me and in this house with the memory of your radiant smile. And when I go outside in the front yard to tend my garden, a lovely white butterfly keeps me company as I putter. That beautiful little touch of God's goodness reminds me so of you. I think that maybe, it is you, coming to visit and bring me the comfort of knowing you are free and happy. My sweet grandson, I will always treasure our special time together along with all the beautiful memories you left with us. I know you are happy, Dear Joey. I can tell by the way your spirit flits through the air. So for your birthday, I wish you peace.
With love and hugs, Grama
