Dear Scotty, My Life
Well, it is your birthday coming up. You will be 31 years old. I hope you're happy and loved where
ever you are. We all miss and love you. It seems more on some days. Your
brother, Jim, is still very depressed and wishes he could tell you he loves
you. All our lives have changed since you left us. All we do is exist.
Angie is driving her own car and doing good in college. She misses you every day. Cathy is living
with us now, and working at Meijers. Jim and Wendy have their own house
and love it. Wishes you could come and spend the night. Angie and I will
be in Florida on your birthday. But Daddy will be there to water your flowers
and visit you. You were my right arm and I am lost without you. All our
love and kisses, Mom & Dad, Jimy & Terry & Angie & Wendy & Jessie.
PS Terry really misses you, too. He wants his little buddy back. He will be thinking of you on
your birthday. Love Mom (Wanda W.)
Dear Scott:
I always thought that time was on our side.
I always thought that with time you would change and be ready to take your place in this world.
I guess we ran out of time.
I always thought of my self as Wanda's husband, as James' and Terry's and Scott's and Angela's dad.
When you were with us I used to be critical of your actions.
In retrospect, I was proud of the way that you handled yourself.
I wonder if I could have dealt with life as well as you did.
I will always be proud of the fact that I was Scott's daddy.
This letter kind of peels away the hard scale that we put on our heart. As I sit here in front
of the keyboard with tears in my eyes, I think back to what might have
been. I regret so many things that I did. We just ran out of time.
Thoughts from a father - Francis D. W.
Scott, 28 - 6/20/66 - 1/14/95
Dear Scott: This is your Mother. I am so proud, Dad wrote this letter to you. You were my right
arm. I am afraid to go far away. I don't have you to take me home again.
I will grieve forever for you. Just go back in time and do that week over, I would give a million dollars.
Love always, Mom (Wanda W.) & Scotty Jr. - P.S. Jessie misses you too, also little Scotty Jr.
Scott, 28 - 6/20/66 - 1/14/95
Scott: How, I do not know any words to say, but how much I miss you. But you are in my heart
now and forever, but I know deep in my heart that whereever you are you
miss me too. I have to some how find the words to tell you I love you,
but so far I haven't had any luck. But sometime, somewhere, I will find
them and I will tell you in a dream of my life.. I have a feeling deep
in my heart that you know what I'm feeling without me knowing it. I love
this feeling of being happy but I also feel very empty inside by life of
also being afraid and lonely. I know someday that we will meet again in
our eternity. I'm also very sad and isolated like in my own little world,
like someday it's going to crumble an I'm going to go away and meet you
someday. I am a very lonely and isolated person, like a homebody who likes
to stay at home with my family and be real close, and not let them go,
because someday I know I will have to and my family is going to fall apart
and I know that someday I will have to be the strong one for my new family,
and put a brave face on when all I want to do is fall apart and cry right
in front of them. Mom, I will not do anything to myself after I have to
let you go because I will never be a Scott and I will not quit school.
I will graduate and make you guys proud of me. I will get married and have
your grandchildren and will bring them out to see you at your gravestone.
I will go, and do good, at college; and I will take them to see Scott's
grave and tell them all about him. You guys cannot stop me from talking
and grieving about you guys and Scott because I love you all so much that
it's going to hurt me when you're gone.
Love you always, Angela W. (Sister)
