This is where it all began. Walt's original theme park, known as “The Happiest Place On Earth,” opened on 17 July, 1955. In September 1998, Stephanie and I made our first ever trip to California and so we of course had to pay a visit to The Mouse on the west coast. I ended up going overboard in the photography department and took so many pictures that this section on Disneyland had to be divided into two parts.

Main Street, USA
Disneyland City Hall
First stop on your left as you enter the park.
Disneyland Firehouse
A light burns in the second-floor window of this Main Street building in memory of Walt Disney. The apartment he lived in during the building of Disneyland is located up there.
The Walt Disney Story
Located on Main Street, USA just inside the park, this exhibit includes Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln in addition to Walt’s story. The original Lincoln figure found here was Walt’s first use of Audio-Animatronics.
The Walt Disney Story
The Walt Disney Story
This mural depicts pioneers of "The Fifth Freedom", the freedom of the free enterprise system. Of course, Walt is one of those honored here.
Main Street, USA
This motorized fire wagon is one of the many vehicles that make one way trips up and down Main Street.
Main Street, USA
This dental office is one of the many *businesses* located along Main Street. Drilling and occasional cries of patients can be heard coming from the upstairs window.
Partners Statue
This Central Plaza statue is practically identical to the one at WDW.
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Hmm...it's a lot smaller than the castle in Florida. ;)
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Sleeping Beauty Castle
This statue of Princess Aurora (that would be Sleeping Beauty) and Prince Phillip stands behind the castle.
Adventureland
Adventureland
The Bengal Barbecue offers the best food in Adventureland and perhaps the most original in the park. I wish these spicy meat skewers were available at WDW...or here in Columbus, Ohio. :)
New Orleans Square
Dixieland musicians throw beads from the balconies to the throngs of guests below.
The Blue Bayou Restaurant
It may be somewhat overpriced, but this New Orleans Square restaurant is worth it for it’s moonlit atmosphere with the Pirates Of The Caribbean boats drifting by.
Club 33
This mysterious door next to the Blue Bayou Restaurant leads to the exclusive Club 33. Extravagant annual dues will allow you to eat in this private dinner club. No, the dues do not include the price of dinner.
Pirates Of The Caribbean
This plaque was dedicated in 1997 to mark the 30th anniversary of this New Orleans Square ride.
The Haunted Mansion
The home to 999 Happy Haunts...but there is always room for one more.
Country Bear Playhouse
Max, Buff and Melvyn line the wall of this popular Critter Country attraction.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
This Frontierland attraction seems faster than its WDW counterpart. Of course, Steph says I say that anytime I get on *any* Big Thunder Mountain ride. :)
